Another consideration is the tank itself, if the chip doesn't resolve the problem that is. I had to replace the one in my guitar amp. It too was making noise on the output side. There are two coils, input and output, and it turned out that the input coil was busted.

I use a ribbon mic bisecting the space between the rack and the floor tom, aiming the null area at the ride/snare. The mid is a 57 aimed at the snare. I've been working this configuration for the better part of a year in my small garage studio. I got decent results from the start and with minor twea...

Whenever I put a compressor on overheads, it just seems to make the cymbals louder, and I rarely want the cymbals louder.

I'm a fan of the MXL 2001 in front of the kick. It's pretty much the only use that sucker gets at my place because I'm not much of a fan of it for anything else. I was getting ready to unload it before I tried it on kick. If I'm working somewhere with a better mic locker I'll use something else - a...

Cool stuff, fun songs, kinda Tapes n Tapes-like. I dig the sound(s) too. 8)

Hmmm, I've had another person mention the reverb... I love it so though.

New song and mix for a film...

My drummer and I have been working on a bunch of music for a film that's being shot locally. We're getting near the end and this is one of the songs for it. It's been in house for so long, I'd like to hear some outside opinons. Thanks.

As per a tip in that recent thread, I tried stacking cinder blocks and that seems quickest, easiest, and cheapest (ten for about sixteen, seventeen bucks.)

I'd say try them with confidence. I've used them in my guitars as well as those of my friends with no complaints.

I use a MXL V63 on kick about a foot or so away, 45 degree axis off to the side of the head. With a small hole in the resonant head it gets just enough click to suit me. Without the hole it's a little too indistinct.

If you have a ribbon or some other figure eight mic, I'd use a mid/side setup for the overheads (effectively giving you three mics for the price of two.) I've been using one on the snare top and then unders for the two toms (with the polarity flipped on the toms and kick mics.) I've been getting a r...

Sounds good man. I'm no great mixer, just another musician muddling through the recording processes. I liked what I heard and let it run through the whole thing, good stuff! Kind of Dungen-esque.

I have a Frostwave Ring Mod that does weird extremely well, but it was a bit pricy. I also got a nice surprise when I picked up a Digitech Bass Synth/Wah pedal for pretty cheap, well worth checking out.

I'm using one as the Mid in M/S drum overheads. Seems well suited in that task, I've got the low-cut engaged.
