Re: Line 6
Before my Mesa Boogie, I had the Red Spider 112 (1x12, 50 watts...) I do say it was versatile, in that it allowed me to use several effects and sounds without investing in additional stomp boxes or rack gear. It did not record too well. The speaker is made by L6, and is terribly muddy. I got some de...

Re: Two heads, one cabinet - solution found.
what about an ABY box? you could have either input be connected to the outs on the 2 heads, and the single out be to the cab. That way you can run head A and B individually or together. You can get them for between $30-100 at any guitar (and probably electronics) store.

Acoustic guitar micing`
In light of the recent "Mics for recording guitar" thread, I thought I would share my method for recording acoustic guitar. I was recording this weekend and I got excellent results. First of all, it helps, in my opinion to have a relatively fresh set of strings ont eh guitar. I like a brighter sound...

Re: Mic's for recording guitar.
Recorded guitar recently this week (Friday and Saturday). I used 2 mics panned stereo. By the way, a 57 and a 58 sans windscreen are electronically and sonically identical. So if you need to use the 58 just unscrew the silver windscreen. My past favorites included a 57 front and center and a beta 52...

Re: looking for info on great drum mics
I recorded drums on friday with some incredible results: Snare: SM-58 (with the windscreen removed, it is identical electronically and sonically to a 57, but i dont own one). Placed as close to the center and as perpendicular to the head as the drummer will allow. Toms: Sennheiser 421's with the bas...

Recording Guitar Amp Direct out vs. mic
I have a home studio that I use for recording frequently. Most of the time I put a 57 in front of my amp (Mesa Boogie Single Recto) and occasionally a 414 behind it for some ambience. I was wondering, is there any way, using a Direct Box to use one of the (powered, 50 watt, 4 ohm or 8) speaker outpu...

Beginner's PT question...
I'm using an iBook G4 (256 MB, 933 MHz, 14 in., 40 GB) with OSX 10.3.3, and the classic view with OS9. A little while ago, i downloaded ProTools Free to mess around with it and see if i could get it to work via a USB audio interface (Griffin iMic). For some reason, it wouldn't let me use the iMic as...

Re: Help! Acoustic Guitar Sounds Way Too Bright.
I got some excellent results recently using 2 neumann KM 140's and an AKG c-414 B-ULS...You dont have to use these mics...its more or less the miking technique... I put the 140s on a stereo bar so that one was pointed at the spot where the neck of the guitar meets the body, and the other is pointed ...

Re: Cool vocal Mic - Anyone else ever try it?
I have actually used a Shure Beta 52 on vocals (Yes, the kick drum mic) and it sounded great.
