Don't be afraid of compression when using it

For that drum sound try one mic a few inches
Above the kick facing the side if the snare a few
Inches away. Distort it and compress it with
A high ish ratio and the fastest atack and release times.
That's how I do a lot of my drums and they sound
Similar.

For a bigger drum sound, something like adding a room mic will do a lot more then changing mic type.

Suicide used a Farfisa compact with some EHX pedals.

Cool! That "flutey organ" is actually multitracked flutes! there is also tracks of bowed upright bass, 12 string guitar, and heavily compressed glockenspiel at that point. I basically mixed/eq'd everything to the levels I wanted, then added reverb/delay what have you if something stuck out a little ...

I think I really prefer mixing/listening in mono, not a popular opinion I know, but I'd like to know what yall think of this mix!
