I worked on a record here in Atlanta where the control room was made of 2 shipping containers inside of a large space. A good bit different then the other 2 mentioned here but similar idea.

I heard a well known eclectic engineer helped design/build it but I can't confirm that...

New tune...First with vocals. Indie, electronic...pop??

This is the first tune I've done with vocals...and it has the most tracks of anything I've done. I need to work on the whole vocal thing...singing, mixing, and the like...but this is the first try. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. www.myspace.com/michaelwestbrook It's the first tune... "Ro...

I've tried all of the above. 3 different Firewire cables, every power on/off-plug/unplug-reset imaginable. Just got off of the phone with Motu. He ran me through all of that stuff again as well. Still unreliable. Motu said that my unit "warranted repair" and to send it to them. I guess I'll be sendi...

This is driving me crazy!!! Please help!

I'm using a Motu 828mkII on a new Macbook (2.4Ghz, 4gb RAM, internal 5400RPM hardrive). I had the same problem on my Macbook Pro that was stolen...Here's what I'm getting: The interface only is recognized by the computer about 1 out of 4 times and sometimes not even that well. When it is recognized ...

I thought sound proofing and controlling the amount of sound that gets into or out of a room were the same thing. I guess what I mean is... Everything I've been looking up is the generic answer... "Well, you're going to have to build a room inside of a room..." or "Get four sheets of this...and use...

Apartment Recording- Walk-in Closet w/ Hardwood.

I'm about to move into a new place and am wondering how to approach treating a closet with hardwood floors. I understand sound proofing is out of the question but am wondering is there is any way to cut down on the amount of bleed from the closet to my upstairs neighbors, and to my "control room". T...

I'm no expert by any means....so take what you will. I would agree with the hard pan guitars comment. Seems like it would be alot more focused with the guitars more center. Even if the main guitar (left side) isn't dead center....I understand the call and response nature of the 2 parts but it seems ...

First public recordings...instrumental

This is the first stuff I've made public. I've been messing around with recording for a few months now, off and on. I had a few days off and I've done one recording per day (3-6 hours), writing, tracking and mixing. I'm limited to what I can play and what I have here at my house. Please let me know ...

Thanks for the responses guys. I've had the most luck with it through an amp mic'ed. Seems clearer, and more natural. I've had some trouble with left hand parts and bass....as well as loop/ambient/synth style parts that fit in the same range. I'll go back and check some arrangements and see where I ...

Recording/mixing Rhodes

I'm just starting to record, though I've been playing guitar full time for several years now. I'm using Logic Express on a Macbook Pro with a 828mkII. I've been recording a 73 key Mark I Rhodes with mixed results. I've tried several different approaches...direct, through a BF Vibrolux, and both toge...
