I just want to clarify something about transfomrer impedance and loads. A transformer itself does not offer an impedance to the source. It just reflects the impedance of the load and changes the load impedance as seen by the source only if it is a step up or step down tranny. In other words, if you ...

I have a MultiMix16 firewire. I've used it for "recording the band" at gigs and it's worked well for that. I could attach it to my laptop, record the night as WAVs and then drop it into ProTools later for editing and any other processing. So it worked well as a tape machine but I never really use i...

Re: tube swap options for MIC pre
Hey guys I have a dreaded behringer MIC100 (I know it's crap  ) 'tube' pre. I know it's sacrilege but I actually like this little craptastic box. Anyway I've been using it happily for a year or so now and last night it developed an annoying sound similar to tape hiss which is driving me mad. ...

so i read that thread explaining this mod. the idea seems to be that it tamps down the peaks in the frequency response, ya? would this work essentially the same on any dynamic mic? thinking maybe it would be simple to make up some little in-line connectors like. xlr-f -> 660ohm resistor from p2 to ...

seems weird. anybody ever recorded a sample of this comparison? i have a couple variable pre amps, i always thought i should be matching them to the mic at the time... am i doing something wrong? haha -j I have some with variable impedance and I just use what sounds best. Same with output impedance.
