Re: Ribbon dilemma.
It’s happening when I move the mic, not just contact it. Definitely tried alternative cables, etc. Noticed it when I picked up the stand and set it down. But sounds like a mechanical plosive, if that makes sense. I’ll aim to do a sideways test. Outside of that some explorations internally. I’ll be u...

Ribbon dilemma.
So, I grabbed an Apex 205 ribbon on the cheap, more as a character, fun mic. I have a fathead, which serves most of my ribbon needs. Working on a project, grabbed the 205 for an acoustic guitar part, and it sounded great. Loved the sound. Moved it afterwards, any contact with the body made a horribl...

New album released!
Hey Folks... here's one that myself and my band have been working on for about 2 years from start to finish. Alt-country in a Wilco sort of vein, some glimpses of Tom Petty, Magnolia Electric, and other esoteric influences. Basement tracked onto a tascam 2488neo. We decided to do a small run of pres...

Looks almost like the same as the Cozart kit... only difference is the pickguard. The part I'm intending to put down is just in the choruses in one song, which gives me time to punch in and tune, and tune as needed. Family time has dictated that I won't be messing with it anymore until tomorrow... b...

After some ebay slumming, I came across some DIY 12 string kits, came in at about $130 (Canadian) for a 12 sting tele style. It landed yesterday, a few misaligned pre-drilled holes, and some minor fitment stuff, but, plugged it in and it doesn't sound half bad. Still need to do a setup and dial stuf...

Nashville/High Strung Electric Guitar
Wondering if anyone has used this trick to any degree of success...?
(ie. Put the high strings out of a 12 string set on a 6 string electric, re-string with standards and tightly double track)
My nearest place that might rent an electric 12 string is a five hour round trip.

New video!
Here's the second video from my new album...
All recorded at home, was lots of fun tracking some of the more traditional instruments (fiddle, and banjo)
Thanks for watching.

First video from new album...
Good day all... I've been plugging away at a new album, we're wrapping things up, so we pushed out a quick mix/video to youtube... Most of the album we've been tracking 'live off the floor', this song however, the drummer and I were rehearsing, and felt the groove was there, so went for it with acou...

Thanks for taking the time and for the feedback... I think, that me working it up quickly helped get it to this point, if I would have taken a break on it, it would have gotten harder to come back to. The family really appreciated it, which was nice. It's a mellotron app from an ipad that I used... ...

Live off the floor with overdubs...
So... a bit of a bummer scenario. I had started working up a new record with some great local players. The plan was to cut basics live off the floor... vocals, acoustic, bass and drums. All of us in close quarters feeding off of each other... with electrics and pianos, etc. overdubbed later. There w...
