Good to hear you got it figured out. For a fix that doesn't involve disabling your wireless adapter, you could try looking at the device properties to see if there's some switches you could make there. On a related note, my girlfriend's computer had an issue a while ago where having the wireless PCI...

I've only done a Boot Camp install once before, but I vaguely remember that there was no slipstreaming involved. That wouldn't really make sense with an OEM CD from another manufacturer, because slipstreaming is when you roll updates and drivers into the install CD itself. Boot Camp I believe burns ...

It also seems like it will only dual-boot if it's the first O/S on a drive, at least that's my theory as to why I couldn't get it to work with Boot Camp. That is strange. I recently did a sound setup for my church which involved a couple computers I built, and one of the criteria was to have a dual...

One more note... This works best with a retail copy of XP. It definitely works with volume license XP also. I never got it to work with OEM XP (that's a CD that comes with a computer). That means if your XP CD has the Dell, HP or other computer brand logo on it, you might have problems. Todd Wilcox...

Nothing in the studio, unless it doesnt work, is "complete crap." Charging high prices for an end result that does not sound great? That is total crap. And I agree about the "old crank " angle... as lame as it gets. I think part of the issue here is that people are using the Sweetwater prices as a ...

Ouch. I assumed you were just doing something wrong, until I read this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25497 Apparently Apple doesn't allow you to install older versions of the OS, probably so they can avoid having to deal with driver issues between computers. Pretty lame. Anyway, I ...

Don't get me wrong, I'm not really gushing about the Red series here. I've got a Red 8 (the 2-channel version of the Red 1), and while I think it's probably the nicest pre that I have the studio right now, I'm not sure I would've paid Sweetwater's list for it. My studio partner got it a while ago (b...

It might be a while before I really get around to messing with it, because I still need to finish the control room volume/headphone amp that's been sitting on my desk for weeks now. But I promise I'll try! I kind of wish I could work out a way to rackmount some of the pres with the bottoms of the ci...

Well, I didn't get an entirely accurate picture of the sound, because I was running an SM57/RE27 through a Hi-Z converter to be able to plug in to those TRS jacks on the front. However, even doing it that way it seemed fairly clear and not really all that "old" sounding; the EQ was fun to play with ...

Hell, I'll throw in two cents here: Computers are frustrating. I've been calling computer bulletin boards since the Apple ][ and 300 baud. I've built several computers from components, and I'm the designated geek in my group of friends. Guess what: the interface on all computers is fundamentally br...

Ok, finally got around to taking some pictures; sorry for the quality, I used my camera phone. Anybody have any ideas on whether I should bother trying to make pres out of it? The channels look like they'd be easy to separate.. http://www.leussler.net/photos/altec1.jpg http://www.leussler.net/photos...
