Re: A Really good book I'm reading.

Although I am aging myself here, I bought Walter Carlos' first 2 albums when they were released new. Switched on Bach and Well Tempered Clavier if I remember correctly. Switched on Bach was the best of the 2, though.
Carlos did a "live" thing on Ed Sullivan or some variety show back then too.

Re: ever get that empty feeling?

I made a big mistake awhile back and sold my 8-track Yamaha multitrack and bought a Roland Studio Pack (w/Emagic Logic). Had the Roland for over 1 year and recorded nothing. On the phone with Techs, problems with Software, had to buy another hard drive and also a contoller. I finally said to heck wi...

Re: headphone problem

I just bought the new(er) Behringer HA-4700 Headphone amp and it will do exactly what you need to have done.
It's a 4 channel unit but has one "phones out" on the front per channel with 2 more per channel on the back.
Good Luck!

Re: ANYTHING BEHRINGER - yeah it's cheap, but we all use it.

I just purchased their new HA-4700 head phone amp. Metal is thinner than other rackmount pieces but it works well. I have it plugged directly from AW16G headphone out to ins on 4700. Got a lot of noise one time but then recognized I had monitor volume control on 16G up to the max. Backed it off and ...

Re: Songwriting

Don't totally blow-off Glenn Campbell either. He was/is a great guitar player, songwriter, and popular country star with "Gobal Vision". He found his niche, excelled in it, and made a great living from it, which is what we'd all like to do in this industry. Pop Country may not be your favorite type ...

A friend of mine has had 2 for many many years and swears by them.
Although when they were selling for $299, he did gripe about paying $700 apiece for them "way back when"....

Re: Songwriting

You may want to check some of the local community colleges and music schools as they might have some offerings out of the mainstream of formal music training (although a course or 2 in standard music theory might give you a foundation from which to spread your wings on. I studied music formally and ...

Re: Any Recommendations on a Mic PRE?

For that price range you are most likely looking at something by PreSonus, ART, or Behringer, or.... Focusrite makes some (Platinum Range) mono units selling at about $399 that include compression, EQ. etc. but arent tube. They may have tube emulation. The Focusrite (Platinum Range) Twin Track Pro i...

Re: guitar practice amps

To answer about the Behringer Amp...
I played a larger one with 2 -12's and supposedly 100 watts RMS.
It was sounded dull and lifeless and did not appear to put out the power of what I thought should have been 100 watts.
Like they always say, try it out first before you buy when you can.

Re: what mic's should I buy?

Honky has some very good points. However, is the $1500 for mics and is there more $$$ for the pre-amp? If $1500 is just for mics that would be great. You could get a real nice or at least decent LDC and have money for others mics then spend some time researching and talking to people about a real go...

Re: Mics for Girls

Also on the Korg 16XD 16 channel multi-track Looks nice. $1999.00 street price. Has many features and many options.. Looks like the higher you go up in bits ie 16/24/etc the less channels become available for recording ie at top you can record 4 tracks at a time with 8 simultaneous playback. You can...
