Problens with combo XLR/Jack socket
I have an M-Audio Omni boy that I sometimes use if I need an extra pre-amp. It works fine if I connect using a jack plug but if I plug in an XLR lead I get nothing. Wondering if anyone has found that these combo sockets work best with certain brands of XLR plug (some seem to have slightly thinner pi...

Re: Yuck
I vote for the Sex Pistols' "Never Mind the Bullocks ..." I had that album hyped up to me for years when I was young ... then I couldn't even listen to it. I was recently watching one those "Classic Albums" making-of documentaries on this record, and they revealed that Sid Vicious really couldn't p...

a couple kind of grungy amps (two Danelectro Dirty 30s and an Electar Tube 10) Not sure I agree with you about the Electar Tube 10 being "grungy". I replaced the speaker with a Weber (or was it a Jensen - so long ago I can't remember) and the valves with ones recommended for a more "Fendery" tone a...

Help needed - convert from Logic
Hi Guys, I wonder if anyone could help me. I have some songs in Logic format - not sure which version but think it is probably Logic Pro 8 or 9. There's an audio file with the .aif files and a directory with a .logic extention containing a lgdoc directory within which is 2 files displayState and doc...

M-Audio button tips
I have a M-Audio Quattro which is missing a couple of its buttons. It still works fine as the bare nylon shaft is still there. The buttons are exactly the same as are used on the M-Audio Duo and Omni interfaces. I'm sure something from Maplin or a similar supplier would work but not sure exectly wha...

Re: Questions for any vintage vinyl experts around here
So, should I sell the mass of stuff to a record store, then try and eBay the handful of collector-y looking stuff? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks! The Hendrix, and Zeppelin albums are definitely bootlegs which might be of interest to collectors but the problem is that as they are illegal...

5 watts isn't really quiet either...don't know if that matters but I wouldn't worry about it not moving air...you definitely could gig with one easy...I did... I agree, 5 watts would be far too loud cranked up in a bedroom or whatever but the Bugera does have switchable power so it can be used at 1...

Re: Favorite controller for Reaper
Just getting setup with Reaper -- not really a mouse engineer. Anyone have their fav 8 channel+ controller ?? Not the most popular choice I know and pretty basic (no motorised faders) but I really like the Evolution UC33 http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jan04/articles/evolutionuc33.htm It works for ...

Re: Gtr doubling Fail, help?!
Instead of doubling, how about tripling the part (the extra guitars panned left and right) but instead of playing full chords, play just the top 2 or 3 strings on one of the parts and the bottom strings on the other one.
Effectively 1 main part plus 2 "half parts".

Re: what do you guys use to share stems via online?
I used to use yousendit.com until I had a lot of problems with them a few years back (slow uploads, server unavailable for downloads etc). I understand they have fixed the problems now but I moved to mailbigfile.com and never felt the need to go back.

Re: Online guitarists?
I'd be interested in helping with this. Let me hear the tracks and I'll see what I can contribute to them.metanoiastudios wrote:Hey guys,

I got one of these for that exact purpose:
http://www.emu.com/products/product.asp ... duct=15186
It has direct input monitoring for zero latency (an important feature for me) plus it is USB powered so no extra wall wart.

Hey Guys, Does anyone know where I can score an MP3 of this? I read about it in the Al Kooper interview and can't seem to find it anywhere online. All of the links I have found are currently broken. Thanks! This one is the motherlode: http://bedazzled.blogs.com/bedazzled/the_al_kooper_tapes/ Have f...
