Re: What Did You Work On Today? 3-31-04
I replaced my 16x8x2 Tac Scorpion with a 24x16x2 Tac Scorpion. You'd think that would be easy, but it wasn't, as I used the modules from my original 16x8, and some modules from a parts 16x8 that I had, and then took the strips from 24 and made one working 16x8, and then there were 5 different power ...

Re: MCI JH110B
man, we should start an mci support group. nice score on the deck! the manual I have for my jh16 is about 2" thick, and it really covers everything, so I'd advise really paying any price to get one.
Randy Blevin's website is www.blevinsaudioexchange.com , he's got a lot of parts.
good luck!

Re: Question, reflections, about amp biasing...
on a related note, I can't see any harm in leaving that 1 ohm/ 1% resistor in there...right? wouldn't that make things a lot easier for me to check the bias next time i get in there?

Re: DSD vs PCM
awesome, guys, thanks. like tardy says, it's hard to separate who is saying what about which...I'm just trying to read all I can to be better educated about the fundamental differences. Gotta keep up on the tools of the future, eventually going to have to use them.

what i meant was....
cellotron,
where is that graph from?, i'd like to read more about the information that led specifically to that graph as it isn't too specific. I'd like to see what "an analog" is pertaining to the data that led to that image.
maybe I wasn't clear with my question...

Re: how much $ to get a head relapped?
hey all, thanks for the replies. JRF and IEM were the places that I'd heard good things about, but I was looking for a rough estimate. A place I used to work at sent things to both places, but I was only in charge of taking the heads out and putting them in boxes, I never had to deal with paying for...

I always think of the end of that song when I hear the end part (the slow part) of bring it on home by led zeppelin.JASIII wrote:...or if it was used on that cool end credit music they had back in the 70's and 80's, with the wah-wah guitar and the bell sounds

Re: Which do I get 200mWb/m or 320mWb/m
i just had an awesome-super-distorted-raunchy-rock session on my tape machine. and my MRL is right here, so I looked it up. the nWb/m is just what that tape is at. you can calibrate from that what ever you want. I wrote this down inside my MRLs box: this tape is 250 nW/m set repro meter to: 0vu for ...

Re: L2 Limiter addiction
I think there is always that spike in using soemthing. You get it, it's pretty awesome, you start using it, kinda a lot, but it's cool......then it starts to be a whole lot, but it's ok, 'cause you can quit if you wanted to...then you use it all the freaking time, and nothing sounds good without it....

Re: biasing guitar amps
OK, so I've used the method in that link with the one ohm resistor. Is it OK to just leave that one ohm resistor in there? That would make the next time I have to re-bias easier. Electronically, I don't think a one ohm resistor instead of a clean path to ground would change anything in the amp. than...

Re: What to do about amplifier humming?
that sounds like a physical connection problem, if you can smack it and it stops...Does your AC30 have a tube rectifier? Before you open it up, while it's on, and humming, take a pencil and tap the tubes...see if any of the tubes are getting weird. Since it warms up and then starts humming, it sound...

well, the clamshell ibook isn't really cutting it anymore. and the mbox doesn't thrill me, I usually use it as line in only (external pre amps) once in a while I find myself wishing that I had 4 line ins. Of course when I get 8 ins, I'll want 16. I'm wondering what speed computer people are using wi...
