Anyone in the northeastern U.S. selling a whole machine or parting out a MCI JH-16/16 or 16/24 with the 114 transport? That's the middle period, yellowish top, dancer arm on left, pre-sony era.
Randy Blevins doesn't have the part i need.
Thx

Re: How many here from the old TapeOp board?
ha, I just searched my self on the old board archive, and I posted 3 times. I guess I lurked a lot there, too. Wasn't there an even older board before that?

Re: MCI JH
JH-16, speed control problems. At first I got around it by switching it into variable speed and leaving the knob in the center, but then the machine still started to get a little erratic, sometimes jumping to "really fast" while playing. Seems to have more problems at 15ips than at 30ips. PLL board?...

Re: Are you using tape?
i didn't respond to the other thread. I lurk. I also use tape. 2" 16trk MCI. I usually dump it over to PT, it depends on the project where the overdubs go (tape or PT). Some projects are strictly PT. Once in a while, all tape. I have a 1/4" Ampex 351 (with the innovonics electronics, not the origina...

Re: What Did You Work On Today? 12-16-04
Today I woke up with a terrible headache, but as the day went on, it faded away, so I got a lot done. I transferred some 78s for a client of her mother singing in the 1940's. Made me apprciate single mics and cutting to disc on the fly. Dealt with phone and paperwork that has been building up. Worki...

Re: shrink tubing for grounds/drains
rather than use shrink tubing, there's this stuff out there that's made out of teflon that I use. You buy the proper gauge you need, and just slip it over the bare wire. Thing is, though, you have to trim it back properly so there is bare wire going into that ADC punchblock hole. The teflon stuff do...

Re: Dumb Question Time:
are those trim pots on the left (on the back?)? Like the kind you stick a tweaker screwdiver into? You could just make a banana plug adaptor, they sell banana ends cheap at RadShack. I'd check with a voltmeter, though. Green Yellow Red, Green Yellow Red, with one Black connector beside them doesn't ...

Re: what mics for sibilant vocalists?
Thanks for all the responses. I have no real problem with processing, and I fully understand that it depends on the singer, but I really just wanted to hear what other people used/did. Purely a hypothetical question. I've done a lot of these same tricks myself, just wanted other people's input as fo...

what mics for sibilant vocalists?
what's the mic you reach for when you've got a sibilant vocalist? OR got any neat tricks for dealing with a sibilant vocalist AT the mic? I'm looking for ways to deal with sibilant vocalists before the signal gets to the pre. I want to know if people deal with this in ways other than corrective EQ/d...

Re: anyone here made cd-extra/cd-plus discs with bonus conte
hey, you have to do it in the other order...burn the audio first, as a "write session" NOT "write disc" because you don't want it to write the lead-out. Then burn the data part, using "write disc" to finish it off. Regular CD players can't read the second session, so you don't get that silent track....
