I like whoever posted the idea earlier to just get a spindle and do some special packaging. For example, Oasis CD can do a spindle of 300 replicated CD's for $420. Then go to Bags Unlimited (or someplace similar) and get some blank cardboard/chipboard cases. It's like $10 for 25 of them. Start with ...

gawsh... i haven't posted here in so long! i just linger, and watch all the advice flow... but i wanted to chime in on this ipod touch app business. i'll second the bebot app. it lets you pretty much define what key and scale you work with, and you can even select to "snap" to the notes or a bend. m...

re: the radiohead thing... no, clearly i don't think she meant in the actual lineage of jazz or preservation of the history of jazz or anything like that. i took it to mean the spirit of it- the freedom of expression and the forward thinking nature of the musicians. taking both the emotion they put ...

whoever said "you can't read a thread like this and not contribute" was right on! 1) "blue light, red light" by harry connick jr. - single handedly got me into jazz and big band music. 2) "charlie brown christmas" by vince guaraldi trio - it was the first time i'd realized that holiday music didn't ...

rolling stone is apparently retarded. if it was a 4 stars out of 50, maybe. it... is... AWFUL. the recording is just uneven and stale. i mean, i can't even tell what the hell is going on. assuming these recordings we're listening to actually do span 11 years, i guess it sounds a little more cohesive...

the only time i've used auto tune is when i recorded a hot fart. it was all flat, and it didn't have that nice squealy rise in pitch at the end of it. you know, "the capper?" that "zip" that usually accompanies a nice toot to let you know, as a courtesy, that it's all out now? yeah, i auto tuned that.

thank god! i thought i was alone! i really love this record, too. i think that first track is a beautiful way to start off the disc, and then "wham!" right into "the only one" which is easily one of my favourite songs of the year. the recording does sound really good, too! i got all excited b/c for ...

i'm sorry if this is something that will go without saying, but here we go... i don't know if all brushes are like this, but mine retract for transport. and if you only retract them part way, like only leave a couple inches of brush exposed, it can give you a tighter hit. that kinda looks like the c...

Making a drum kit sound dry

Hey! So I've searched and tried to find some suggestions, but I am only coming up with ways to make the snare sound drier. I have since found that using a little cloth here and there helps to dry things up withough sacrificing some tone. But how can I make the whole kit sound that way? I'm talking i...

i love stupid people

so one of my jobs is at target (go ahead and poke fun (i said poke)) at the customer... i'm sorry... "guest" service desk. and there are countless dumb people in a week that bring back desktop cd players. we have to ask if there was anything wrong with the item, and the answer is always the same. ADAT equivalent

hey - i'm tired of the moving parts and hassle of the ADAT. what's the best equivalent? by equivalent, i mean: - uncompressed 16-bit or even 20-bit recording - 8 tracks simultaneous - three band parametric eq i know ADAT don't have the eq, but i assume anything in my price range and being similar to...
