How was it shot? If there are wide shots that clue the audience in about the space, they will be more tolerant of the room sound. If there are, however, no visual clues about the sonics of the space (i.e. all close-ups), then you've got some work to do.

There's a simple answer: bed music. You're never going to get rid of the room sound, but if you put a soundtrack under your edited sound it will be a lot less distracting to the audience.
