I worked a gig once where the stage was set up differently. I don't know the true intent or how they decided to setup the stage but the drums were stage right facing center. I swear it was because the drummer had the worst musician face while he was playing. I was working front-of-house but I droppe...

I've got to chime in on this one. The Gramblers and the Hips are both GREAT bands. Last time I saw them (both bands on the same stage) was last summer here in Chico. Very cool.

I can never pass up an education topic without replying.

My suggestion to anyone is to get the Bachelors. Trade schools will leave you pigeon holed and with a mound of debt. At least if you get the Bachelors you'll have "options" (on top of your mound of debt of course).

As a graduate of CSU, Chico's program, I highly recommend it. Wonderful instructors, really on top of their shit, high expectations, yet at the same time uber chill. On the flip-side you have to enter the CSU system and I do not hold that in high regards these days. You will leave with an education ...

I would play the mixes for someone that you know will hand it to you. Someone you respect. This ALWAYS makes the problems pop out.

BJT's and FET's are fundamentally different. But the math is pretty similar.

To learn and understand DSP isn't about the programming language but the the math involved. Differentials, etc. The programming language is merely the vehicle. With that said, learning C is probably the best starting point. Assembly can get really complex, depending on the processor.

Amp problem

My stereo (McIntosh C28) made a funny sound the other day. (side note-It's only happened once and I haven't experienced it since, but my girlfriend said its done it before) I had some music on in the background and at the end of one of the song, it started making this marching sound. It sounded like...

I agree with those above, and applaud them for saying what I was thinking but clearer in explanation. For what it's worth, if you are worried about phase cancellation then don't record in a room, or near a floor, or with a microphone. I guess what I am saying is don't overthink it, just try it. Reco...

Thanks for the tips. The only thing between the back seat and the trunk right now is the original felt like blanket (two holes punched in it for some reason). Luckily, it's not vital that the car be quiet, it is a muscle car anyway, and not a daily driver. It would just be nice to get out after a cr...

I guess I forgot to mention we are looking for the cheap solution. Dynamat is way too expensive for this problem. And like most expensive and simple solutions such as dynamat (especially with car products), there is usually an equally effective and cheaper solution.

Making the inside of a car quiet(er)

Ok, I have my own ideas but some of you have way more experience than I do so I have to ask. My dad wants to make the cabin of his '69 firebird quieter. Now he doesn't want to extend his tail pipes(which cut off under the seat basically) so regardless what is done it'll probably be loud. He's begun ...

If you are looking for silent, go for the solid state drives. I run a Thinkpad T400 with the 1.5 GhZ Core 2, no external graphics. With the power mode set to energy star or power saver(which essentially shuts down one of the processors.. I think) the fan never (ever) turns on. Now running at full sp...
