great article/ thread. the one thing i'd want to add is a pretty obvious caveat for experienced mixers, but something that nearly bit me in the booty when i was first trying it: it's really easy to accidentally muddy up your stereo image using this technique - one example would be sending your oh's...

Two, if you're gonna set up a reverb and you want it to sound natural, start sending stuff to the reverb, then just listen to the reverb return. Does it sound like it would if you were standing outside the room and listening to the band play? If not, why not? Are the vocals too loud and clear? Is t...

I wonder if some sort of commonly available caustic chemical might remove the paint from the clamps more thoroughly and with less effort than sanding? For instance, Coca-cola has a fairly high pH... ... I seem to remember using it to de-rust a bicycle chain one time, and another to strip paint off ...

so you are basically saying not to even deal with using the time adjuster plugs at all and just nudge the individual tracks that are being offset by plugin delay? Well, I'm not really saying to discard the time adjuster plug in if you like to use it. My response was actually a question to bluesbaz ...

What your doing is sending the track to itself, hence the mute, along the way printing all of the plug in data and no automation. Another benefit is that you can print all of your tracks at once. I often do this with finished albums to "save the mix" Once that's done disable your plugins move the a...

The Bellari rocks! I don't own one but have used it on a few sessions and it didn't dissapoint. I wouldn't hesitate to use it on OH when I'm not using tube mics or on rooms depending on what sounds better for that sitiation. I have only used it on drums but that's by no means the only thing it's goo...

Usually, I don't have a singer consciously double themselves. When I get a good take I say "two more just like that." Then, pick the best one any pan the other two left and right. If you aren't happy with the double, do a triple. It seems illogical, but the addition of a third take can smooth over a...
