I was thinking the same stuff as Mike. Listen to some other music on your friend's system and see what's happening.

Goot to see you, George!
Good to see you too, Tony!!

Re: Stereo mixing to minimize artifacts when played on home theater?

I think you first need to determine if it is just your mixes, or do all commercial releases also wound weird on your friend's system? If it's only your mixes, then focus there. If it's the system, then try other systems. If one out of 100 playback systems, or even 1 of 10 sound bad, there might be ...

Stereo mixing to minimize artifacts when played on home theater?

I've noticed that with many of my mixes, playing them back on a home theatre is various shades of weird. The worst artifacts I've experienced are a combination of buried lead vocals, along with inappropriately loud ambient effects (reverbs and echo off the lead vocal) coming through the surround spe...

@winky: I'm definitely in to spaced out atmospheric stuff...will check those out! @david: Plates are one of those things I never got in to that much...maybe it's time. I'll compare the plates to the RenVerb...if it's better than the RenVerb, maybe I'll try making my own impulses for Waves IR. @MoreS...

Creative uses for MS-decoders?

This may seem trivial to the more experienced mixers out there, but yesterday I had a small epiphany. I've got a Demeter RealVerb spring reverb, and although I liked the idea of a short verb on one channel and long verb on the other channel, I was never happy with the stereo imaging. Typically I ran...

School me on the Alesis MidiVerb II

I went through my storage space yesterday to pick up some things, and discovered that I still have an Alesis MidiVerb II. It's been in storage over 10 years. I hear that people like some of the patches...what are your favorite patches and what do you use them on? Second, I have limited rack space. T...

OP, a few years ago my NT2 died on me. I sent it back to them, and they fixed it, and charged me nothing. Not even return shipping. If I recall, they turned it around pretty rapidly as well. Just sayin', they seem like a stand-up company. Send it in now for repair, worry about other mics along the w...

FS: Stephen Paul Audio AKG 414

This started out life as an AKG 414 B/ULS. I purchased it new in 1992, and around 1996 had Stephen Paul do his magic on it. It took about a year to get the mic back. It's been lightly used only for my personal projects. Unfortunately, I have little time any more for recording. This mic should go to ...
