i just tune the top heads to really deadened thud and then tune the resonant heads so that the are all sound close to the same note. sounds fine to me all the time. im not real "pro" though. and i pretty much just try to make my drums sound like ringo.

im personally not a fan of the rode mics. i think they arent as good as some other options in the price range. i think you can get a just-as-nice mic for less. seriously, check out the studio projects mics before getting rode. i dont even own one but ive heard from many sources they are just as good...
