Lots of Home Studio Gear in Boston!

Dear Tape-Op Community, Years ago I was a proud home studio nerd, but life has changed, and I am now focused on other things. The time has come to try to liquidate some of my old gear. I bought some of these items through this same messageboard. It is mostly cheap but solid gear of the sort that is ...

FS: Patchbays, Lots of Rack Gear, and the Rack Itself

I'm downsizing my rig and selling some of my outboard gear, plus the rack it's in. The following items can be shipped within the US. All items are in good condition other than some rack rash. Behringer Ultragain Pro 8 Digital AD/DA: $120 Behringer Powerplay Pro 4 Ch. Headphone Amp: $60 DBX 166 Stere...

Hi! This sounds awesome. I live in Cambridge myself, and I would love to check out your space when you get it up and running. Unfortunately, I don't have the time or the money to offer to actually partner with you guys. But I would love to help pull cables over the summer! Let me know if you need an...

Firewire Problems w/ MOTU 828MK2 - Please help!

Hi People, I'm having a really frustrating problem and I hope someone can give me some advice. My setup is a crappy old G4 (766 MHz or something / 512 Mb RAM) with a MOTU 828MK2. I do all of my recording onto various external firewire drives. All of a sudden, I can't read from an external drive and ...

I interned once at a Manhattan recording studio that will remain anonymous. They had just set up a new room for archival / transfer stuff, which they used to digitally remaster the entire Dischord catalog. My first time down there, one of the engineers puts on this tape that was literally half an ho...

perhaps tomb 5.0 will use vanilla, punBB or wpbb. they are lovely and sleek code wise with about 1/2 the page weight (half the bandwidth bill). I would definitely be in favor of moving away from phpbb. The number of mods we have installed makes upgrading a nightmare. If a significant upgrade comes ...

Okay we have RSS. Your browser will probably detect the feed and show a symbol in your location bar. The direct url is http://messageboard.tapeop.com/rss.xml That is a feed of every post for the past two weeks, but you can customize the feed by adding the following options to the url query string. H...

I actually have a similar problem, except in my case it's a closet that I need to get into sometimes but not too frequently.

I was wondering if it would be possible to build removable superchunks and fasten them to the corner and door with velcro or something.

Welcome to the board Steve! I didn't want a magical EQ recipe--I was looking for spectrum analyses of well-recorded instruments. This might not be as useful as you hope. For instance, you could look at a spectral analysis of a beautifully recorded piano side-by-side with a crappy sounding piano reco...

This is a very interesting post. I have spent a lot of time thinking about this question of how much math understanding is necessary to work with audio. In my view, Fourier analysis lies at the heart of the matter. It is easy to tell someone, "an audio signal can be represented as the sum of pure si...

So should we seriously replace the search with this? I'm all for it. While we're at it, we could disable the stupid phpbb indexing. You wouldn't believe how it works. It takes every single word in each post (minus those on a stoplist) and puts them all in a table called "words", which it queries eve...

Yeah to tell you the truth I kind of like the new system, because it makes it obvious if you avatar is ridiculously huge. Some people are using desktop-wallpaper-sized images for their avatars. Save the world some bandwidth and resize. (The site will be faster too.)

yeah, I just tried it out. In the css you can add this: img.avatar {max-width: 75px;} * html img.avatar {width: 75px;} seems to work fine and doesn't have the page jump. the second line (* html ...)is for IE6 and below. IE6 doesn't support max-width because it's an asshole. that...
