My 2 cents, totally subjective (obviously). It's a good song and worth working more on. So, with that in mind: that vocal sound doesn't work for me. I can't tell what it is. It might just be that the vocal is not loud enough in the mix--which it isn't (again, just my taste). But it might be somethin...

ev-635a dont pay more than $50 for it used, but try it everywhere. however, you'll understand omni a little better by getting your hands on a multipattern LDC like the c414 or at4050's, etc. full range omni from a condenser should help you learn to hear what omni is. something like the ev-635a is e...

omni questions from a cardioid guy

Greetings. I was reading Walter Sear's thoughts on how great omni mics are, and it got me thinking... Hmm. Less phase weirdness. Less proximity effect. Sounds pretty good! Anyway, 2 questions for you experts, since I've never used an omni mic: 1. In the crappy, small, boxy room in which I record, is...

Hey, Well, I gotta say i like it and don't find anything "wrong" if you want bigger you may want to add a bit more low end...put the check out the demmo of the Lowender plug, I bet it would do nice things to the bass. Tom Hey, thanks for the feedback. Really appreciate it. It doesn't sound overly m...

I guess the tracking I did for the Sparklehorse record "its a wonderful life" Oh sure, Joel. It's like we're all hanging out shooting baskets with and then Michael Jordan comes by and wants to play. Just kidding dude. I love that record so much. Not only has it not aged, it's actually gotten better...

Crunch, Part II (Revenge of the Crunch)

Back in the summertime, I asked for your help on a mix I felt was way too polite. You helped a lot. The song is now quite mean, and the mix that resulted from that dialogue is the mix that (I think) is going to be on the record. It has no manners at all. It?s at my myspace page (link at bottom of th...

Wow. Just heard one of these. Really cool. Really want one.

Bonus if you're in the Milwaukee/Chicago region.

Thanks.

80/20's don't usually last as long or stay in tune quite as well, in my experience, but if you want a woodier sound, try the 80/20 stuff out. [<|>] You beat me to it, kdarr. I think 80/20 bronze sound a little darker than phosphor bronze. To me, that's a good thing. Martin SPs are nice. But I just ...

Just for the sake of conversation: What about Tchad Blake? What about Sparklehorse? What about Califone? What about any song that has a section that uses the Copperphone? Tchad Blake has gone on record many times saying his favorite move is to juxtapose lo-fi and hi-fi sounds. Maybe that's a bit dif...

Re: Quest for "air"!!!

Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Have you read this legendary thread about gain staging? http://messageboard.tapeop.com/viewtopic.php?t=38430&highlight=gain+staging Part of what it claims is that many of us track too hot in the digital world. One resulting problem is that things start to ...

Couple of years old. Been used lots but you'd never know it. Looks and acts brand new. Actualy got some new knobs for it from the nice folks at FMR because the old knobs were sliding around too much. Comes with original box and manual and power supply. Not sure what these things are going for used. ...

WTB: Neve-type mic pre

Greetings.

Anyone out there looking to dump a Neve-style pre? Could be Great River or whatever. Just something Neve-ish.

I think I've officially outgrown Mr. RNP.

Thanks.
