Re: If I can get a relay that would work at such low currents/voltages
Yes, Larry's totally right. Relays expect their rated turn on voltage to switch. 3V, 5V, 12V, 24V... It depends on the relay but they expect a DC voltage to switch. You'd need some sort of peak detect circuit to drive the coil in the relay and switch when it crossed the threshold. And I also agree a...

Re: electrical engineering education/knowledge
If you want audio electronics knowledge, school for electronics is not gonna get you there. $.02 I'm not sure I agree with this. Curriculums vary but I got a tech degree and a fair amount of time was spent on analog electronics that directly translated into audio gear. There were subjects within I ...

Re: Recommend me a wild delay pedal
I recommend the Red Panda Particle Delay. It's mono and doesn't have tap tempo but you can get really wild sounds out of it. It's been my main delay since I've gotten it.

Jazzes, by Vernon Wayne
Hey dudes. My band just released this E.P. on bandcamp this week. We're kind of an indie-metal band out of Minneapolis. You can download the first song, Ghost Arms and Phantom Lips this week for free here: http://vernonwayne.bandcamp.com/album/jazzes . You can stream the whole thing for free or the ...

Treated my room! 2x 6" bass traps, 1x 4" bass trap (in the back corner), and 4x 2"reflection panels. I built wooden frames around the 6" traps and the rest I just hot glued the fabric around the panels. I'm going back and remixing some older songs now. http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g182/supposit...

Thanks, dude. I haven't bought any yet, but I did find a pretty cheap supply of it so if it comes down to it I will go for more panels vs thicker panels. Also, the fabric? I've heard conflicting things about it. Some people say you should be able to feel air when blown through it with little resista...

Any thoughts on how to level these speaker stands? I haven't build any yet, but plan to. Problem is, in my apt I have very old wood flooring and it's not level. Would it be alright if I used wood shims? Also, If I went the extra cheap route and just stacked cinder blocks, wouldn't all that extra wei...

Wow. Wish I had thought of that. I did try wad paper in my ears at a show about a month ago. Did not work well.Scodiddly wrote:
And if you really get stuck at a loud place with no protection, don't just wad up paper napkins... get the paper wet. The mass of the water absorbs a lot more sound than dry.

Awesome! I really enjoyed this article as well. He is a pretty outspoken guy and come across as abrasive, but I just love the records he makes. It was nice to hear that In Utero situation in greater detail, too. Such a shame. If the record companies were trying to go after more underground acts why ...
