how do i get them to scrap that kit and use my lovely 5 piece Pearl Reference thats tuned well and doesn't move out of the studio?

the only thing ive seen is that 15k is 'brighter' and 600k is for vintage tone.

on the left here theres an input impedance switch for the comp side.

any ideas what it should be set to before you rack it up?

that article is very good, i will browse over that sometime this week! i think recording at the highest volume we can is called getting the maximum apparent bit depth. so the signal gets represented with the most amount of bits it can! not a geek on this by any means so if im wrong ill just shut up ...
