The most widely recorded "classic" guitar amp?

wondering if anybody has any ideas as to what dudes were actually playing on all the records people assume are 100 watt Marshalls through a 4X12?

i read about a lot of champs...of course the classic Supro on some Zep and Hendrix. but what would you venture is the most recorded amp between 1950-75?

i have to respectfully disagree that caps dont make a difference in an amp. i will say it is a subtle difference. but i find that overall i am not a fan of any amo that uses orange drops. and i have come to this conclusion only after the fact.

the "blue caps" BF used DO add something.

i needed one for a film score a while back. i tried a bunch out: nationals, dobro, regal, johnson...some were expensive, others were cheap. ended up getting a goldtone "beard" model that sounded great. almost as good as ones that cost 4X as much. they are about $800 new, $500 used.

if you had to have one...Tele. hard to beat the number of bases you can cover there. And for $1000 or less, VERY hard to beat. as to which tele to buy, the 52 reissue is one of my personal faves in that price range. but, the G&L stuff seems like more hit than miss, whereas fender can be a total crap...

Mic suggestions for guitar/alto/upright bass trio recording?

Hey. so im going to have some old buddies come out to Seattle for a week to do a little jazz trio demo in the style of the old jimmy giuffre/jim hall/ralph pena records (if you arent familiar....awesome). it will likely be just to shop around to get some club/restaurant gigs...ie...doesnt have to be...

yep. ive gotten into many arguments regarding this BF vs SF topic. my less informed excuse usually ended up "just listen to it...its not the same." good to know im not crazy. well, maybe just crazy enough to pay for a BF.

definitely go with a 50 watt ceramic 10F150T to be exact. im curious to try out a alnico (as i usually my preference) but the ceramic worked like a charm for the low end...
