The inputs can be either Line or Mic level, the outputs will follow the inputs (line outs or line ins, mic outs for mic ins). Transformers are passive devices and care very little about voltage levels so long as the cores don't get saturated by being driven TOO hard (then again you might be going fo...

BTW I think Andertons book is antiquated at best, I have it and most of the projects are obsolete and use unobtainable components. shhh, don't tell him that, thats half the fun of that book. On a serious note, the book is old, but replacement parts can and have been found (I just finished building ...

Acoustic Demo, Feedback Requested.

Just finished working on an short demo with a friend of mine. We chose to record in a spare room of my house for greater flexibility in our schedule. I just used some basic mics, close miced the guitar and tried to just use my ears as much as possible. I feel satisfied with how the whole thing came ...

The resistors are most likely 1/4 Watt, %5 type, although you could use smaller 1/8 watt if you'd like. RickvH is right, the capacitors are indeed tantalum type, the schematic is pretty horrible and difficult to read, but it looks like it calls for 3uF capacitors, rated at 25v. Mouser caries a brand...

This might be a bit overkill. but if you are running os x or linux, you can use a program called jack to route your audio over a network. Jack is an audio and transport engine similar to Core Audio and AISO however it is developed by an open source community. There is an extension for Jack called ne...

If the software you're using isn't designed for multi-proc (most isn't) then raw cpu speed is more important than number of cores. I've been favoring fast P4's over slow dual cores for cpu intensive media applications. This is most definitely true when considering the increase in performance for wh...

DL's are just multi-pin, multi-channel connectors, much like Elcos, but are "zero insertion force" so the pins/contacts don't wear out,
