I find it weird hearing drummer perspective recordings if they're using a lot of room sound with less close-micing.
When I'm sitting behind a kit I'm getting a lot of direct sound straight off the drums, so if the close mics are a big part of the sound then I'm more inclined to pan things this way.

I think I see how you got to 0 dbu =-16dbfs (20-4 and then subtract from 0 to get -16).
