Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
I picked up another RedNet 2 on Reverb. Picking it up in San Diego tomorrow. My Focusrite Rednet 2 went on the fritz this morning, so while I waited for their support (which was only a couple of hours wait... not bad), I went hunting for a second one to replace it, in case this one could not be repa...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
new pair of Avantone CLA-10A limited edition speakers. Active, Brown Veneer. Funky. those do look cool - I'd be interested how they work out for you... They look beautiful. Spent a couple of hours last night listening, and they do sound like the old NS10s: Midrangey, crisp top end, lower level bott...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
Got a capacitor kit for my Hammond M-3 organ, to fix up its amp which is spitting and noisy. Also got a new pair of Avantone CLA-10A limited edition speakers. Active, Brown Veneer. Funky. Lastly, a used Digidesign analog to digital converter card for my Digidesign 192. So I can access my UAD plugins...

The farting is coming from the source. Move your butt further from the mic.

Truly sad, he was brilliant and funny. Got to interact with him a few times at conventions over the years, and online.
He will be missed.

Re: Mic pre in pedal form?
You could get an impedance matcher for a dynamic mic like a SM58, and run that into a guitar BOOSTER pedal, which should give you enough gain to run the signal down your pedalboard, and not need phantom power. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/LittleIMP--whirlwind-little-imp-lo-z-xlr-to-hi-z-1...

Here's somewhat of a white paper on speakers and what to measure on them.

Re: Your favorite tips & resources on working with tape
So, submixing/stems and bouncing, playing with varispeed, hitting tape hot, setting bias for a different kind of sound, etc. Some of this will be subtle, like changing the bias to get a "different" sound. And "hitting the tape hot" is more a function of the electronics in the machine than the disto...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
Bought a Digidesign 192 and extra analog input card, for my old TDM HD3 system. I had sold off the converters to get the Focusrite Rednet 2 with a discount back a few years ago. Mostly because I miss mixing with my UAD DSP plugins, and it looks like they are going to take forever to port them over t...

Re: Heritage Audio Britstrip
I’ll be recording singer songwriter stuff with Vocal and acoustic simultaneously. Any input appreciated ! I'd stay away from compression for singer with acoustic guitar. At least not until mix time. That britstrip looks interesting. Just don't use the compression on it... ;) Which microphones are y...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
Steinberg has a February sale, so I got VST Connect Pro 5. Been testing it for a few hours today, learning how to do remote recordings. I still have a day or two before I feel confident about it. Lots of small code parts that need to be "just so" for it to work correctly. But, fun, once it works, as...

Re: Best mics/mic-ing approaches for sax?
I've had good luck with Sennheiser MD421s and 441s. Also the old trusty AKG 414, but with the -10dB pad on.
As always, listen to the sax and the player, put the mic where it will pick up the best balanced sound and not get blown out by a loud passage.

Re: Roland SH-101+MoogerFooger MF-102 pedal
Check to see if you have a "DC coupled" output on your converter. Those allow for CV voltages to be output directly. Motu has some. Also, the CV In / Gate are very common synthesizer control voltages, -5 to +5 Volts. If you have a synth, see if it has those types of ins and outs. Try the LFO out of ...
