Unless what your saying is that by being in their system this in itself would 'officially 'attach' the numbers to the individual songs? that's what i'm saying. i may be wrong about this, but this is my understanding...the isrc's on an actual cd aren't 'attached' to the wavs, they're embedded in the...

Re: For all sound engineers everywhere
The gender isn't really that important, just the engineer part.

Re: Few female recording engineers
Ok, I'll bite and provide you a case story. I got into engineering because I wanted to work in music. I was actually discouraged when I was younger to learn music so I don't play or write, but I was/am an avid fan because I am a loaner/geeky person that didn't have much else to turn to. So when it c...

Re: Just "forgot" I was working on my Avantones. .
I always run a check on the Avantones before I print a mastered version of the song. If I can enjoy it there, I know I'm done. I love having a few sets of monitors to listen to. And I love when you get it to sound great between the two. The translation outside is that much better. I love hearing stu...

A little advice for the engineer that would like to help convince their clients to go to an true ME...get a relationship going with one that you know you can sell that is right in line with your clients budgets and who's work you appreciate. I have producer/engineer clients that will only refer thei...

Re: cell phone hash
I've received a few mixes where it has been undiscovered until my stage, with no chance to remix. Oh well.
We ask that all phones be turned off or go in 'airplane mode' so it is not heard in the speakers.

Re: Northern California: In Studio Learning?
Los Medanos is good, especially for the money. Chabot JC in Hayward has a program, but I do not know its quality level. Expressions is an over-priced degree mill churning out garbage graduates, at least in my experience. Absolutely not worth the astronomical tuition. I would agree with you in regar...

There is a community college named Los Medanos in Pittsburg, CA that has a pretty good hands-on Recording Arts Program. I did the 2 year degree route there ending in around 2000 and have been working in studios ever since. The teachers are pros and really helpful. I still go back and say hi if I end...

Re: Internship Offer... Cutting the Grass?!?!?!?!
It's to see if their pride is more important than following explicit and detailed directions. Nothing else. Being an intern is not a classroom, it's the hard knocks you didn't get in school, real world and if your smart, prepared, and not just been paying attention but proactively working on your s...

- People who expect to be walk out with a master without paying COD. - Close sitters breathing down my neck - cell phone noise in the speakers - late people - poorly labeled files - fidgety people that click pens or play with other such items - distortion, unless it's supposed to be there Our job is...

RE: Mixing/Mastering for vinyl???
When mastering for vinyl you always have to take into consideration sibilance/extreme high end in the mix and well as if the low end is mono or not. These things can generally be taken care of in mastering, but as it has been stated above, it's better to have it done correctly in the mix. Also, out ...

Re: Mastering is eight days away
Dude. Quit freaking out. Mastering is not that big of a deal. There's no voodoo or fairie dust going on. They're not going to pass it through Magic Alex's "Nothing Box". Mastering is a necessary and important part of producing an album, but you may be disappointed if you're expecting something real...
