Apogee DA16X and AD16X converters for sale

Hello I have a pair of Apogee converters which I am selling for a studio owner who is downsizing. They have been used twice in the past year and have been in storage for the past few months. They look brand new. They do not have the original boxes, but I may be able to dig up the manuals. They do no...

i was at aes checking out these mics, and someone asked whether or not they were made in china. the answer was that they are, but the guy has a chinese-speaking friend doing qc over there, and he personally tests the mics himself when they arrive here. i've only tried out the mics at aes (impossible...

i think "hey jude" was when they began to use trident studios a bit, although it wasn't really till "let it be" that they started to regularly record outside emi. i'm pretty sure "mother natures son" was done at emi. the book mentioned above would tell you the exact studio and dates, as well as what...

by bright i meant "too much treble". again, i've only used one specific u95...maybe it was an early or modified version, or perhaps it was just plain broken. maybe i'll have a listen to another one if i get the opportunity and see if it sounds the same to me.

you know, i used a u95 on a session some time last year and was fairly unimpressed. it sort of sounded like a fet mic to my ears, didn't seem to have a lot of character compared to a classic neumann tube. also, the mic was painfully bright. it sounded like there was a 6dB boost at 12Khz...so much so...

i always thought it was funny that he had an $8000 sampler in his bedroom. and he complains his parents wouldn't buy him a car. a friend used to have one that belonged to the residents, it came with a lot of weird samples.

Re: objects thats make strange sounds for music concrete

contact mics are really good for recording strange sounds...i have a couple of c-ducer contact mics i got off ebay for $100 that are cool for this sort of thing. you can mount them on household objects, and record banging on them...cool for pots of water and shit. one advantage is that you can recor...

Re: Contact Mics for Drums?

i've used the c-ducers before...they are a pain to mount, as the double-stick tape they provide tends to peel off; and being a contact mic, the sound of the tape peeling off is exceptionally loud! but the advantage is that the mics have perfect isolation...i.e. no cymbals in the snare mic etc. and j...

Re: Quincy Jones/Off The Wall/Thriller

i've read the swedien book, it has a chapter about michael jackson in it. unfortunately, the book is more geared towards someone who is not very familiar with recording...so there isn't as much technical info. as i wanted. anyway, bruce records all his main vocals with a u47, and uses m49's for the ...

Re: Thelonius Monk was crazy

continuing the off-topic posts... i was at the dentist and he offered to play some music while i was getting my filling done. he asked if jazz was ok, and i said that was cool, thinking he would put on "kind of blue" or something. of course he switched on some kind of kenny g garbage...so not only w...
