It sounds like a little motor or fan is going off inside the front of the machine. It's the first time its ever happened and I bought the unit used in February. Anybody with any knowledge of how these machines are put together have any idea?..........it does not sound good..... Update: the noise app...

I love my 488mk II, (mines actually a 7 track now that I blew one) I mix down in garage band, throw distortion on the whole mix, add some treble reduction...and voila! lo fi heaven

how about some music samples? You can go listen to some samples on the different label's websites that are listed on the site (chocolate monk, reverb worship, etc.). I definitely recommend doing that before buying to find out if it is your "cup of tea" or if your not used to noise/drone. Its a pret...
