SPL Gainstation1: Input transformer worth it?

What do you think, is the Lundahl input transformer option on the SPL Gainstation1 worth it, in other words is there a sonic improvement or is it all subjective? I have a jerry jones longhorn bass4 (which is like a danelectro, only handbuilt) and I use the strings jerry recommends - the d?addario exl170s. http://www.daddario.com/DADProdDetail.aspx?CodaID=647&ID=3&Class=ACBA G 0.045 D 0.065 A 0.080 E 0.100 the way I understand it, the scale length makes a hug...

I like vinyl also, my band released a 12'' single + mp3s (not that we sold much of either). I don?t think I should be preaching why I like vinyl, because you all know. but I have something to add to the enviromental issue I think didn?t come up yet - mp3s are not energy neutral also. people might go...

thanks signorMars, that?s an explanation that finally makes sense to me. in the meantime I dug out my moog ringmodulator manual and there is written: "The MF-102 works satisfactorily on +9 to +15 volts DC" - makes sense. I?m just a musician (read: an imbecile with electronics)... ; ) digital pedals ...

forgot to add that the maxon can be operated with 9V or 10V according to the manual... so I guess (hope) it will be fine. btw, this compressor does not color the tone of my bass and does a good job set as a limiter or just to even out the picking.. it can also pump a little, but not that much really...

powering pedals with pedal power2

allright, this is quite bass/guitar effects related, but it?s gear right? plus I?m sure tapeop readers know the answer... so I recently purchased a voodoo lab pedal power 2 and everything works like a charm, except I have a question regarding the maxon cp-9 compressor & the ehx micro pog. both units...

thanks for all the suggestions... I eventually (as mentioned before I think) found the best workflow and am pretty quick.. let me tell you, the possibility to assign your own keyboard shortcuts in sys pref -> keyboard & mouse in os x is a very great feature. I arranged my shortcuts in a way that I u...

thanks tatertot! I think workflow is the word I was looking for.. my workflow as described above worked out quite good, about 100 words/hour is not so bad I guess..

also a good suggestion - picking takes while recording.

quickest way editing & rendering files...

I am looking for the quickest way doing the following: I recorded a speaker for a language course CD, I have long takes with a few hundred words each, 2 or 3 versions of each word. I need to select the best version of each word and deliver single .wav files - in the end I?ll have several thousand .w...

I always wanted to support my local music store and bought most of my stuff there.. this store is quite big, they have a lot of pedals to try out and most of the guys working there have bands, you know the type. but I soon realized that (with the exception of 1 really nice and competent guy) all of ...
