I am able to use a separate monitor feed from the output for them if I desire, but it seems natural to use the main stereo outputs instead. You should absolutely use the monitor feed for your speakers. That's what it's there for. The main stereo out should be fed into whatever your mix capture syst...

"i find that my monitor dials for my outputs are always set to, at maximum, -17dB." I am not sure what this means. What equipment is this? The DAW? The DA converter? Not sure at all what this is. http://colemanaudio.com/ Sorry, thanks for asking for clarification: "this" means the mixer actually.

@Nick Sevilla - thanks so much for this info. This is certainly what I did when I used audio returns from a computer via virtual mixing software, whether it be fed from a DAW or otherwise. In my case I am not using a computer, so I'm curious what people do there. For example, I have hot output from ...

hot signals and main outputs

hello, i'm curious if anyone can share their experiences on how to reduce a hot signal before it hits your studio monitors. i find that my monitor dials for my outputs are always set to, at maximum, -17dB. i'd imagine there are some units that do a noise reduction + attenuation of an analog signal b...

microphone cable impedance

I'm getting around to be more serious about making my own cables. I assume that there is some sort of minimum impedance desired for cable runs that are between 10 and 20 feet long. Can someone please enlighten me on the particulars of that? Hoping on grabbing some affordable mic cable for all my var...

I finished w/ the rest of the testing earlier - it turns out there is one (1) grounded outlet in the space, which I'm SO happy about. I might look into running the ground around, but I think I'm going to call an electrician for that. I had pge check it out and everything looks ok on their end going ...

OK, I finally have some follow up information to post. I purchased a gardner bender outlet tester and the thing reads out as having an open ground. Is this dangerous? As I mentioned before, I have my entire studio plugged in to this, so it's my understanding that nothing is grounded at this point......

yes, when you need individual knobs they require a referral to one of their distributors.

this looks closest to me, but the outer shell is black by default, a minimum order of 1K is required, and i'm not sure they can match the color:

allen and heath mixwizard knobs

Hulloh, I contacted a retail distributor to see if they had knobs for a mixwizard. They do, but they range from $2 to $12 PER KNOB. This is a ridiculously high price, and because I need 46 knobs for a mixer update, I am surprised that they charge this much. Does anyone know of another source...
