Though it would likely be a shame to do so, that Viola Audio looks like a prime candidate for some truly amazing bending hackery.

Not sure how this would work into the story...
(although I hear it sold much better after they took "pur" off the front of the name.)

The vurt looks like a more "civilized" version of the contraption Simeon played in Silver Apples:

Ensoniq,
I'm not positive, but I think Ensoniq's weighted keyboards (as well as their poly aftertouch) were different from the Fatar or Yamaha stuff. Not that it matters much.

Re: Digital Console with 1 fader?? (Sound City Movie)

If memory serves: Keith Olsen was the guy--can't remember the studio name. The console was the Trident Di-An. I saw or read something about it somewhere recently but don't remember details.

Re: Clip-On Tuners?

I'll probably end up with a Snark if the Unitune doesn't come back into stock soon. I don't have an App Phone or an App Pad so the virtual stuff is out of the question for me.

Re: Clip-On Tuners?

I have a Stroboclip, and really liked it. Up until the clip broke. But it was really good for accuracy, much better than the usual $15-20 suspects. Have you tried contacting Peterson about this? Back before they went digital, their customer service used to be pretty good. I don't know if that still...

Clip-On Tuners?

I'm not that thrilled with the clip-on I use at the moment--some cheapie I got a few years back from an online retailer. There are times when it struggles to discern a note, & it's especially weak on bass. I'm not convinced it's terribly accurate either. So....does anybody have a clip-on they love? ...

Sloppy fingerpicking on a nylon string classical. Stereo mic. That's about it.

A bass coated in a layer of black enamel is the stuff dreams are made of, as Mr. Bogart might say.

Re: shedshrine build 3.0 - furniture, cats, gear and enlightenment, man

All this bass talk got me to thinking about my first fretless--a $10 yard sale find that had been brush-painted black. The action was beyond horrible (there were steel washers between the neck & body for some unknown reason), & it had a cutout for a pickup that had been removed or never installed. I...

Your attached! Is that the ironwood flatwounds we hear on your Angry Ghost tune? It's been a while & I didn't actually play that part, but it was almost certainly my buddy's fretless Fender, which he's been playing since sometime in the 80s. I haven't used the ironwood on any of my recorded songs y...

Re: shedshrine build 3.0 - furniture, cats, gear and enlightenment, man

they had a used Westone fretless for 2 bills on the wall that I fell in love with. This made me want to show off my cheap fretless--an old japanese no-name fender copy that a guy put a new ironwood fretboard on. Tapewound strings, which I don't mind. (Also, I wanted to try out the attachment functi...
