yes I have the Neve already, Ended up acquiring a Germ and a TG-2 in addition to the Neve and I'm loving the options I am getting using all of them in conjunction. Recording electric guitar, the Neve is giving me a very "vintage" sound, which the Chandlers can't reproduce..a sound I personally love....

Alternatives to the Apogee Quartet
I am looking for a 4 input USB converter/interface to run external preamps into my Macbook Air, and also to use some outboard while mixing in Logic. Most likely going to get an Apogee Quartet, though wondering if there are alternatives I should consider. The RME UCX is in a similar price range, and ...

Thanks for the input. I love the Neve 54, though since I've never heard a TG-2 or LTD-1, I wasn't sure if they were superior quality/sounding preamps. Basically, the goal for my project studio is to function as a high quality electric guitar/vocal studio....and have the option for bass, piano and so...

Neve Sidecar vs. Standalone Preamps (Chandler, BAE)
How do the preamps in a Neve 5432 sidecar compare to the Chandler line, or BAE? Currently looking into the LTD-1 and TG-2, and the BAE 1073MPF and trying to get an idea of what they'd sound like next to my 5432. My main application is electric guitar recordings (lots of overdriven, distorted and fuz...

Coles 4038 + Beyer m160s on drums
About to get a pair of Beyer m160s to use for drum overheads. I own a pair of Coles 4038, which I've been using on OH up until now. Been doing a lot of live one-room studio recordings, mostly loud rock music, so I like that the Beyers are hyper-cardiod and will most likely give me less bleed/more fo...

noise is not an issue, which is why we love this space. no residential neighbors to bother + all the concrete seems to keep the room heavily isolated from the outside of the building. we've decided for now to keep it as a one room studio, rather than build out a separate control room, to save costs....

some great advice so far, thank you. i've been going to barnes and nobles the past 2 days reading the Gervais book and getting a much better foundation to think about this stuff. i'll probably buy it as soon as i can afford to. in terms of the drop ceiling instead of carpeting the floor, does anyone...

General advice on a space I am about to rent
Hello. I would like to thank everyone in advance for checking this out. I know relatively little about studio design and need some quick general advice on a space I am about to rent; even if that advice is "don't rent this space! it's an acoustical nightmare ; )" The space is a 1,200 square foot con...

Transfering analog mixes to digital - converter options
I was going to purchase a BLA Sparrow to transfer 1/4" analog mixes to digital. However, a friend has a Digi 192 ProTools HD rig that he will let me use. Is there any point to getting the BLA or another high quality 2 channel A/D, or will the Digi 192 do the trick? Would there be a benefit to the Sp...
