Dr. Daniel Levitin

What a great article to find in this issue of TapeOp. I try to find out as much as I can about a subject if I'm interested in it and I'm sure thats how most of our peers operate. I think most people in the audio community end up becoming way more than just engineers and players and become electricia...

Re: Chicago area recording arts schools?

If I could go back in time I would probably get a degree in Electrical Engineering and then do the intern thing again. At the very least I could be a way better hobbyist when it comes to making my own stuff. In answering your question, I'm 24 and right now my day job is an A/V Coordinator for this c...

Re: Chicago area recording arts schools?

I really didn't intend for this reply to get so long so read on at your own risk: I really wish I could have run accross this thread in the summer of 2002. I am in complete agreement with Jonathan and Marshall, couldn't have said it better myself. I've been paying dearly for degrees in 'music busine...

At last, my love..

Ryan!

I'm going to ride my bike over to your house. Look at your wounds, give you my dissociatives disk, take your silverchair dvd and then we can do audio stuff.

by the by, Hinge got an Icon..I went and saw it and it made me sad because I realized that all the fun is truly gone.

Awesome. I knew you could link different hardware pieces together but I didn't think the hard drive would get recognized. Thanks a lot!

Re: Firewire port question

Can Reaper record to an external hard drive through USB 2.0? I just thought of that after I sent the post. I'm trying to leave digidesign and remember that products like Reaper were made to work with others better but old habits die hard! Please don't yell at me and tell me I should have done more m...

Firewire port question

I just got my hands on a beautiful A&H System 8 MKII board and I'm trying to get it all synced up with my computer. I just bought an Echo Audiofire 12 and got the latest version of Reaper OSX which I believe will allow me to mix 12 channels at a time. I'm operating off of a Macbook (2GHz Intel Core ...

Re: Echo audiofire12 or motu 24i/o

Ah yes, when I said the Profire was the cheaper option I just meant that my friend already owns it and I wouldn't necessarily need to buy the Echo device. I guess I was mostly wondering if you thought the Echo Audiofires were worth using even though I had other options. I had plans to buy the Audiof...

Re: Echo audiofire12 or motu 24i/o

Hey guys, This is my dilemma. Do I save some money and get a Profire 2626 and MPowered for my MacBook or go for the gold and buy an Echo device and some new software like Cubase? Really, the only reason I ask is because the guy I'm doing more and more work with owns a Profire 2626 and it would save ...

Re: Echo audiofire12 or motu 24i/o

I really enjoyed this thread. I am definitely sold on Echo. The company seems great and I will definitely bypass the MOTU units and save myself the headache. Thanks a lot guys!!
