FS/FT Tascam HD-P2 Field Recorder - 192kHz/24-bit
Works great for location recording - has bag/strap, power supply, etc. Also works well as digital mix down deck. Only small issue is that the SD card eject button doesn't function - but it is very easy to just pull card out and put back in manually - doesn't affect operation. Will take pics and can ...

Very excited to be going this year - first time to the con. I've signed up for the Build Your Own Mixer workshop, but I'm a little worried my lack of soldering knowledge could be a prob. Any word on the skill level required for this? I'm gonna pick up an iron, and I'd like to practice relevant techn...

you know, I'm gonna add something here in light of soundguy's post that might be unpopular. I don't get the idea of re-amping direct guitar tracks for the same reasons you state regarding the mix buss comp. The amp sound I'm using for any given track defines the way I play the strings, the tone set ...

New project - need some opinions
So, I have just been asked to create a soundtrack/score for an independent film that a friend of mine is putting together. It will be mostly avant-guitar and soundscape work, created with traditional instruments. I'll be overdubbing most of it, probably no drum kits, etc., just guitars intermingling...

Acoustic Celing Tiles
So the house we just bought has a bunch of unused acoustic ceiling tiles in a closet. Is it advised to put these on the walls in a small tracking room? What range are they supposed to absorb? I was thinking about using one or two each on the walls behind my nearfields as well if it seems like someth...
