FS/FT Tascam HD-P2 Field Recorder - 192kHz/24-bit

Works great for location recording - has bag/strap, power supply, etc. Also works well as digital mix down deck. Only small issue is that the SD card eject button doesn't function - but it is very easy to just pull card out and put back in manually - doesn't affect operation. Will take pics and can ...

WTB: Digidesign 888/24 + cable

Need to add some outs to my HD setup - this seems like the quick fix for now. Anyone got one laying around that they want to part with?

don't know how it would work, or what adaptors would be needed, but I just got a portable dvd player that has video input. if it would look good enough and connect, it would actually be a really cool setup with a mac mini.

Very excited to be going this year - first time to the con. I've signed up for the Build Your Own Mixer workshop, but I'm a little worried my lack of soldering knowledge could be a prob. Any word on the skill level required for this? I'm gonna pick up an iron, and I'd like to practice relevant techn...

you know, I'm gonna add something here in light of soundguy's post that might be unpopular. I don't get the idea of re-amping direct guitar tracks for the same reasons you state regarding the mix buss comp. The amp sound I'm using for any given track defines the way I play the strings, the tone set ...

O.K. in the interest of generating opinions, I'll simplify my above, wordy question. What LDC do you tend to like as a room mic on amps AND a body mic on acoustics?
What budget pres play nicely with guitars?

New project - need some opinions

So, I have just been asked to create a soundtrack/score for an independent film that a friend of mine is putting together. It will be mostly avant-guitar and soundscape work, created with traditional instruments. I'll be overdubbing most of it, probably no drum kits, etc., just guitars intermingling...

thanks! I assumed they are "targeted" towards high end. I've got some other solutions for corners, so I'll give it a shot.

Acoustic Celing Tiles

So the house we just bought has a bunch of unused acoustic ceiling tiles in a closet. Is it advised to put these on the walls in a small tracking room? What range are they supposed to absorb? I was thinking about using one or two each on the walls behind my nearfields as well if it seems like someth...
