Re: Soundforge
If I had to nerd it up and say I had a favorite computer program, it would definitely be Soundforge.

Re: SAE Thoughts and Opinions
as an audio school graduate, i would strongly encourage you to jump straight into an internship at a studio and avoid SAE. especially in NY, there are tons of opportunities for studio work. if you really try hard to get in, and nothing comes of it, you have two options. 1/studio life might not be fo...

Re: Guitarist w/2 amps - how to?
ok, i admit, i didn't read any other post, but here's my two cents... these two guitar signals do not sound like they really warrant a two amp "stereo" set up. in my experience, a stereo guitar rig is really making use of the differences, usually with very noticeable effects like panned chorus or tr...

Re: Fixing up a college studio
first, decide what the main function of the studio will be. is it a studio for live bands broadcast on radio, or is it for purely recording? then we can get started... that said, i'd focus on microphones. does your studio have monitors? monitors are definitely essential if there's going to be much l...

Re: 2-way and 3-way
i really think this question can be answered in less than 5 paragraphs... 2 JBL EON 10"s w/ stands 1 small mixer (preferablly Soundcraft over Mackie, look at E and M series) 1 JBL LSR25 for personal stage monitor Audix vocal condenser microphone or Shure Beta 87. A 105 is really not necessary for it...

Re: O.S. X and Pro Tools 6
word to the wise: nearly every commercial studio using Pro Tools systems is avoiding the OSX/PT6 upgrade because, being new, is in a constant state of upgrades and bug fixes. stick with OS9/PT5.3.1 for a while, as most are doing. it has reached the end of it's bug era, and is nearly rock solid...or ...

Re: headphones and mics
headphone.com best headphone resource ever. better to buy nice headphones now than cheap speakers. the price to performance ratio of headphones is much better than speakers. you'll keep good headphones, you'll dump speakers that cost just as much. still, extremely wise to not solely rely on headphon...

Re: How to Store Cables?
the proper way to coil cable is the "over-hand under-hand" method, and is too awkward to describe in words. i'm sure there might be pictures on the net somewhere. my personal preference for storing is to velcro the coil at the top, and then hang, with the two ends hanging well below the coil, as to ...

Re: Pain in the ass clients?
I'd charge them $100 for the recorded CD or tape or whatever. If you've got the master, you're the boss.
