Re: Focusrite RedNet hardware
Thanks for sharing, Dante is indeed great, especially Virtual Soundcard. You won't see much latency improvement unless you go to 96k and buy a faster computer; DVS's latency is throttled because it must crunch everything natively off your machine, ie it's not proprietary hardware like HDX. You might...

I ended up getting another 192 for a total of 16io's. From the research I've done, I can put in another set of AD/DA cards(on the two different chassis's) for a total of 24io's. I don't think I can replace the digital cards on the two 192's and replace them with AD/DA cards for a theorized ideal 32...

Why do you need 32 outputs (Orion)? Also, Orion doesn't have mic amps. You generally can't use two interfaces simultaneously, so in example 1 you'd have to pick one or the other, potentially limiting the Nucleus to just a control surface and monitoring. Nucleus is perfect for mixing ITB, but people ...

Soundcraft Ghost too.
Otherwise, as mentioned, you may have to double your ask to get an inline console.

Headroom is simple to compare. Is it more or less? If it has an input trim, it should not even matter. Why not just buy a 10 dB inline pad and keep using what you have? If you're going to tape, you don't need more than 20 dBu out, because tape saturates before then anyway. For instance the MPX100 ev...

Most computers can be turned on via their NIC by sending the magic packet to the destination machine over IP. The technology is called Wake On LAN and it works great. You can use a web browser client or find a WOL client for your phone or something and send it that way. http://lifehacker.com/348197/...

I suggest downloading an SSL or API manual and seeing how their patch bays are laid out for an idea. 1. Should i have compressors stacked over the other effects for normaling? This is not common practice, but if you work that way all the time it's fine to do. 2. should i have them running back into ...

What is the specific problem you're having? I don't understand your question about the XLR patch because I don't know what's on the back of it. How many mics do you record at once? You might want to dedicate some Saffire line in's (TRS) to the patch instead of the XLR mics, because if you use a diff...

Good thoughts here. I agree--you probably can't do this practically without some kind of control surface. Maybe FaderPort is all you need. If you get something larger, you're back to Toft-like real-estate (but without all the cabling). Here's another thought--consider switching to a simpler DAW that...

It sounds like you handled yourself with poise and professionalism, and have squeezed some of the good from this lemon, and at least it was probably exciting. Unfortunately, your story is not so unusual regarding a celebrity trying to "bridge" entertainment industries. These types are so used to peo...

SPDIF mobo
This company has a few no fan mobos. This one is, and has SPDIF, but I'm not sure if it's in or out, or possibly software configured? You might be able to find something by contacting them or digging through their matrix selector.
