Viva 5.1!
I see this thread's a bit old but had to ask - any of you STILL on 5.1/Os 9?? I upgraded to TDM about a year ago and then to ProTools 8/OS X about a month ago and I duno', my LE 5.1/001 mixes still ROCKED comparatively and were so QUICK to get going. I'm not too stoked about the EQ IIIs yet - not to...

After months of back and fourth between the TDM and LE - i've decided to just upgrade to a 003 and G5, maybe ProTools 8. I've heard from a few pretty reliable studio geek friends that the disparity I'm hearing is just that the older TDM cards are processing at 16 bit and the LE is functioning at 32 ...

A SOLUTION???
I didn't put the LE and TDM mixes side by side in the car but I'm pretty confident that the LE mixes were better everywhere. HOWEVER, printing out "the recordist.com" article recommended above as a check list (for the nth time), I noticed that my 24-bit optimized mixer file was INSIDE of my PLUG-INS...

I've head something to the effect that LE runs off the computer thereby utilizing the 32-bit mix bus while TDM runs off the cards and a lesser bit rate...is that some kind of urban legend? Also, I have OSX installed on a separate partition of my hard-drive. I've heard that this can somehow effect Pr...

The gift that keeps on giving
Thanx for the feedback! I have optimized everything in my rig as that article suggested but to no avail...I wonder what the possibilities are that the MIX CARDS I bought on eBay of maybe even the 888s are some how defective in some way that could lead to slight signal degradation? I'm in control of ...

LE 5.1 VS. TDM 5.1
I'm one of those hangers-on who not a few months ago was racking their brains trying to decide between upgrading to LE+002/003 or to a Mix TDM System+888 from a 001 with 5.1. Well I went with the TDM Mix Plus system 888/882 in OS9 and it HURTS! Sure, I've got 64 tracks at my disposal...but that's ab...

FIXED FIXED FIXED!!! This marks the end of like one solid month of wrestling with this system to get it up and running...gasp. I'm so stoked! This is a great lesson for anyone trying to piece together a TDM online (non-turnkey style) with not that much clear advice and documentation available. I had...

Hey guys thanx for the advice! I'm beginning to be convinced that my eBay-bought FARM CARD has got an issue of some kind. I've revamped my IO setting numerous times, tried trashing my preferences like you've recommended and re-loaded the programs but the 882/20 running off the Farm Card will not reg...

882/20 won't INPUT into ProTools TDM 5.1!
Yes, I finally did it! I moved from ProTools LE 5.1 thru a Digi001 which has served me well for the past 6 years to ProTools TDM 5.1.1 in OS 9. Same plug-ins, more tracks and power...yippee. However, it's been a nightmare getting it all up and running. I have a Mix Core and Mix Farm card running an ...
