I have the Warm Audio WA 76 and I don't find it noisy at all. It adds a warmth that I've never found with other comps I've tried and certainly not with any plug ins. If you're looking for the sound and thickness of an 1176, you're not going to find it with the other comps mentioned here, except from...

I bought a pair. Haven't had them out in years. I should give them another go. Kinda woolly sounding as I recall. I remember lots of talk about modding these mics. The one I recall off the top of my head was screen removal.

Recently bought a Rode NTV tube mic off the 'bay. Been looking for sometime. These things seem to hold their value as I haven't been able to find one for less than $5-600. Got this one for under $400. Have yet to check it out though.

Jeff, You didn't say what you're recording. Or what your budget is. Do you need both an LDC & an SDC? For $299 (or less), I'd get an AKG Hamburg or Vienna anyday. Way better mic than those you listed. If you need an SDC, look at an MXL 603 or the new 604 for about $100. The 603 can be had on eBay fo...

Best "affordable" cables I've found are at Audiopile.net.

Mark and Liz are very knowledgeable, friendly people. Their cables are the best you can buy until you're ready to spend the BIG bucks! I've had excellent service and no problems with the cables I've gotten from them.

HonkyJonk,

I use the Maxtor Diamond Max Plus 9 HDs in my computer and my HD24. They've been very reliable and are quiet. I purchased them in different places(can't recall right off) including ebay. I have 80GB, 160GB and 200GB. Never a problem in a couple of years.

I've been disapointed with Tascam since they dropped the original forum. Seems to me customer support is as important as quality products!

Re: Pacific Pro Audio Ribbon Group Buy Instructions

Hey guys,

I'm stoked about the ribbon mics, but haven't recieved any confirmation from Garth & company. I've checked my spam blocker and there's no email there either. Anyone heard anything more about this?
