Swedien Recording

A friend posted on Facebook that Bruce Swedien stopped by the neighborhood to look at his boyhood home today. As a Twin City guy, that got me to thinking about the fate of his old studio on Nicollet Ave. Found this article: http://www.citypages.com/2005-06-08/news/three-tracks-echo-and-a-bunch-of-hu...

Live, I use custom fit with -25db inserts and live with the high end roll off. Helps you hear your own vocals when the monitor mix sucks. Dietary magnesium supplements help reduce noise induced hearing loss. (From an Israeli army study on gun ranges.) I use a bulb syringe with warm water for flushin...

57 for live vocals. Having the screen mounted in a plastic surround means you won't get shocked in the lips when playing live in some craphole bar with suspect wiring.

As I recall, it doesn't work with OS X using Classic mode. You have to have a machine that boots up in OS 9. The interface was a dumbed down version of Logic. I still have the PCI card laying around somewhere.

Here I was thinking it was emitting some supersonic frequency that drove away rodents. Yeah, me too. Though actually I read somewhere that Jobs has very sensitive hearing and likes quiet computers. Most of the Macs, aside from those cheese-grater power models, have been pretty damn quiet. Sure, the...

Well then, that's a horse of a different color. Thanks for pointing that out. Maybe it's time for trifocals.

Levelar Power Supply

Anyone know the specs for the ART Levelar power supply. Owners manual doesn't say & I can't locate the original. I know it's 9v, but don't know the polarity.

Currently using a Subdecay Liquid Sunshine. Different take on an OD pedal as you can add grind in 2 frequency ranges. Let's you dial in a lot of different sounds w/ 3 knobs.

Running a dual boot g4 in one room, the last and most powerful of the os9 bootable machines. Noisy as hell, but I keep a logic system on there that is rock solid and there's still a couple of apps and plugs that never made the jump. The infamous wind tunnel. Mine is sitting idle as an emergency bac...

Ask your prof why this method works as well as it does. Perhaps getting him to look at it analytically will cause a "light bulb" moment .

Never had noise reduction on mine. Everything that was available at the time seemed to make things dull. I just lived with it.
