My expirence tells me that you don't know if you're good or bad at mixing untill you have the opportunity to mix a well recorded, produced/arranged and played project.

If an (expirenced) engineer can't make a good mix in that situation he probably sucks :)

Re: Here's a funny video of a non-automated mix on analog...

Ok, so there I am minding my own business working on a mix, from 2" analog to 1/4" analog, and I'm doing it by hand 'cause my console doesn't have automation....and, as you'd guess, I'm making my fair share of mistakes....which is all part of the gig, until I realize the artist is filming it! hee h...

In my (not so long) expirence as professional engineer I've noticed that most of the guys with an Mbox who think that pay for a recording studio is stupid are the ones who don't belive that "success" is a matter of putting time, sweat and money on the table, no matter what. I mean, there are a lot o...

First Post here. (Great magazine, anyway!). As my nick name explains I'm a Zappa Freak! :) I'm still studing his world, I own about 30 records...about 40% of his work. Well, my favourite record, at the moment, is Roxy & Elsewhere, expeclially from Echinda's Arf of You to the end. Echinda's is someth...
