If this is only an addendum, where is the complete, original verdict #1?

Van Dyke Parks' "Song Cycle" record is incredible. Completely bizarre.

Re: Radio station limiting
this overly-compressed sound really bugs me on TV as well. did anybody else see the MTV2 Radiohead concert? you could tell that it "may" have sounded OK, but the squashy effect that you heard made (as stated above) the "quiet" sections louder than the "louder" sections. i expect this kind of limitin...

old-timey string band in New Jersey
I am currently jamming a few tunes with a fiddle and banjo player. I play the bass (but often play guitar to fill out the sound a bit better). Mainly, we play old fiddle tunes and a bit of bluegrass, but nothing too "intellectual." We are looking for a more "full-time" guitar player to occasionally ...

Re: tatu on mtv movie awards...
Sorry, Duc. I was afraid that MTV might play something that I liked. I own some Puffy CD's. I have never actually heard anything by Tatu. Not a single note. On another subject: Did anybody see Jewel's performance at the NBA final's halftime show? I thought she was a "farmer's daughter" -type singer/...

Re: Shaq Autographed TR-707
I remember seeing an article in MIX (sorry...) years ago about celebrity-owned home-studios. Shaq's control room had a huge Superman logo on the floor. I'm sure there were many assorted drum machines as well.

Re: tatu on mtv movie awards...
So, did Puffy perform on the MTV awards, or were we simply comparing "hot, young, girl singing duos" in general? Puffy is rather interesting as far as pop music is considered and I do admit to owning 2 of their CD's! I am hoping that MTV ignores them, as I don't want my little sister to start listen...

Re: Hammond J-300
You might find info on how to oil a Hammond here: http://theatreorgans.com/hammond/faq/ I have an L-100 and there are small funnels or cups in the back that you are supposed to put oil into from time to time (though, of course, I have yet to do this out of general laziness and indifference). eric s.

Re: Top 3 local radio stations...
Their archives are incredible - especially if I'm out on the road and hear something... it means I can hear it again as long as I remember about what time it played. However, the archives have given them some trouble with the FCC, I think. In the NY/NJ area, WKCR (Columbia University) is also really...

Re: Top 3 local radio stations...
New York City: 1) WFMU 2) er, WFMU 3) obvious... WFMU = free-form radio, each DJ plays what he/she wants to... so, every hour or so it's completely different music. The commercial radio stations out here are a disgrace. ClearChannel is the Wal-Mart of radio. Even the "classical music station of the ...
