I agree on embracing the hum, it's' part of the single coil sound. But I have had success with phase cancellation, I think it was hum from an organ. Record the hum and flip the phase or move it around very slightly then at least some of it should be silenced.

Why not monitor from the console? That's what I would do, just monitor out from the console to amp or active monitors. Then you could use all 8 outputs.

Thanks! Great answers! Haven't got my loan yet, but it looks like I might get it.... Swedish banks... Might as well do the research in the meantime. Anyway, now a guy is selling 8 racked modules from an Amek M2000 from 1978, recapped and with Burr-brown op-amps. I almost don't know what that means. ...

Are there really Tridents in that pricerange? Are you talking about the new one whatever it's called? I wouldn't be getting any behringer, then I think I'm ok with my Soundcraft spirit. Maybe I'm actually just better off buying preamps and outboard eq. It's the analog mixing, it just feels like some...

I will probably be getting a loan, so I'm just trying to decide where to put the money... But I would say the budget for a mixer could be around 3000 dollars (maximum).

Another console/mixer opinions request...

Hello I am going to get new gear sooner or later, I will be buying preamps and microphones but I have also decided I want to mix on an analog desk. I want it to be good, but I can't afford the best. So I'm asking for some opinions. Used Soundcraft ghost? Other used Soundcraft? Maintenance I know... ...

Gas-reverb??

A friend told me he had read of an old reverb type utilizing some kind of gas, in a container, that the sound goes through... The principle being I guess that sound would travel slower through this gas than through air. Does anyone know if it exists? Maybe he was doing a tree-verb on me....

Cassettes are a great way to do a home made flanger-effect, making use of the speed variations. I also like som cassette-sounds pretty clean sometimes just for what it does to the sound without overdrive and distortion. Im a cassette-fan, they go well with computers in many ways.

Summing, ITB, OTB, stems etc...

Hello I am trying a bit of analog mixing, using a Soundcraft spirit E12 and a Focusrite Saffire LE. I am sure this level of mixer doesn't make it "worth" it in terms of "better summing", but I like the feel of it, doing manual fades, etc. And the eq just sounds better than even my more fancy plugins...

VED stuff

Hello, I'm totally new to posting here, but I have been lurking and learning for some time. Here's my stuff, it's been released on LP and 12" and it would be interesting to see what you would say about it. It's digitally recorded with very limited technology. A mic or two has been borrowed, but most...

It seems to makes sense with the plugins, haven't really thought about that too much. From my limited experience and not so limited hours of reading about these things, the "math-talk" does make sense. If you're going from 88,2 to 44,1 the math is simple and would not have to compromise the sound so...

I also new to Logic and some things, metering for instance irritates me a bit. You want DBFS with a clear relationship to the zero to know what's going don't you? Perhaps that's what it is but it just doesn't feel very clear to me. I think the pan-law lowers by 3 db, if I'm not confusing it, because...
