Re: 388 schematic that’s not the crappy scan everywhere?

Hey, thank you so much. I forgot to update. I ordered the three Rec/Play cards that were on eBay, I recapped the ones I have, but the problems were deeper than that because all my dead channels were still dead. I’ll rebuild them soon, but I just wanted to get recording. My problem getting the relays...

Re: 388 schematic that’s not the crappy scan everywhere?

Nice!

Looks like my problem is probably the mc14011bcp. I hope I have one around the shop somewhere, I’m so ready to use this thing.

Re: 388 schematic that’s not the crappy scan everywhere?

That’s awesome!

Thanks!

Looks like hidden in the blurriness of 4-3 Monitor PCB ASS’Y I can kinda see the record arm switches. That and the one you did already should be great.

Re: 388 schematic that’s not the crappy scan everywhere?

Definitely the stuff for the Rec/play pcb (which I just recapped two of them, not the two that went out... one in each bank because I was having record problems) and I probably need the pcb with the record arm switches. It’s hard to see what goes where with the signal to flip the relays. Thanks so m...

388 schematic that’s not the crappy scan everywhere?

Does anybody have a legible schematic for the Tascam 388? The record play relays are out for channels 1-4 and I can’t read the schematic you can find everywhere. If I move a card from 1-8 they still don’t work so it’s something common for the first two cards

Re: Roland Space Echo Mode 4,5,6 Hum

Yep, cleaning the heck out of the rotary switch is what I would do, while you're there check the solder connections. I'm a fan of either Stabilant 22 or Dexoit D100l for treating that switch. The reason I think it must be related to the rotary switch is that 4, 5, and 6 are just combinations of head...

I've got similar issues...I've tried several kinds of splicing tape, and I still hear it when it goes by. My interim fix has been to load longer loops, so it doesn't go by as often. ...And to learn to love the warble and dropouts. I mean, I'm using a Space Echo, right? I've got other options if I n...

Hmm. You can reverse any old DI box, too. The thing is, what is yer goal? Re-amp to make it sound better? Anything you can think of that's similar might work ... But you have a better chance of making the guitar that you played sound like it's the originally plugged into the amp thing you wish it h...

just gave a quick look to discover the master board is actually revision 3 not 2 lik ein the posted schematic. also upon taking it apart and putting it back the problem went away and the jack functioned properly then after a while it came back.. I did not see any cold joints but I'm assuming that t...

I think we've narrowed it down to IC7.

Look closely at all the solders around it, my bet is on cracked solder on a resistor or cap leading to oscillation, possibly a open resistor, or bad cap, maybe a bad IC7

I would look for a bad solder, open resistor, or bad cap at C30, R55 and at C33, R52 from looking at the application note on the 2030 datasheet.

You can also look for a power supply oscillation at C40, C41, and C42 for the headphone amps.

Do you have an oscilloscope?

Is there any change in volume with the headphone volume control? Is it in both channels? I'm trying to figure out if it's happening before the headphone amp and being amplified by the amp or if the noise you hear in the main outs is just some crosstalk from what's happening with the headphone out. I...

From just the headphone, but not the main outs? Possibly an oscillation from the headphone amp? Bad solder joint on a decoupling cap/bad cap somewhere around the headphone amp? Blown headphone amp? Depending on how the headphone amp is implemented (discrete, op-amp...) it could be any number of thin...

I went with the last generation (2011) i7 quad Mini. Maxed the ram, put in an ssd, and for not much, I have a hell of a powerful little machine. Have both Firewire and Thunderbolt, plus USB3. I dont push it particularly hard, but it really performs well. My .02 For a while the prices on those shot ...
