Bluetooth from studio to my phone?

Hey all! Wondering if anyone has or knows what the best device is to accomplish this without spending too much bread: Basically, I want to be able to send audio from my studio ins and outs (either direct from the pres or from within the DAW) back and forth to my smartphone. Essentially making my mic...

Re: Problems with Mac Mini and Logic

Is it just happening with a specific impulse response? The impulse response file may be malformed or have some other quirk in the data that is incompatible with whatever code Apple uses to load an impulse response file. This is a typical edge case when loading various media formats, whether it be a...

Problems with Mac Mini and Logic

Looking for opinions here. I got a newish Mac Mini (Intel chip, 64GB ram) in the Fall running Logic X. All of a sudden yesterday, I tried to load in a new IR in Space Designer (reverb plugin) and it froze on the rainbow pinwheel of death. Force quit and tried again, same thing. Then I tried to bounc...

Re: policies on vax or non-vax

I actually just remembered that this past fall I did a vocal session in my one room studio. Basically I cordoned off a corner with hanging packing blankets and she took off her mask when she was singing and then put it right back on. I was double masked and also she was someone I know well who i kne...

Re: policies on vax or non-vax

I do not have a studio that is open to the public, but this is what I would probably do if I did. Do you have a separate vocal booth? If so, I would say mask off is fine while you're singing in the booth, but on all other times. I would still wear my mask unless MAYBE if everyone present could show ...

Re: New Barn Studio build out

When I did my garage, I used a high(er) density closed cell spray foam. The outer walls are decades old stucco and I was worried about micro cracks and pieces chipping off, so I figured a layer of spray foam between the studs would help seal it all up before I put up my pink fluffy and inner walls. ...

I don't even post questions or ideas on the John Sayer's web board anymore
Posting on Sayers to me at this point is equivalent to deciding to read the comments on a FB post about Star Wars: an anxiety attack waiting to happen.

Re: RANT: "in your spare time.."

Ok, i'm going to build out the garage. It's not going to be as fancy as I had hoped and planned in my daydreams. I can't afford that and that will take me another three years. Just wanted to chime in and say that I feel your sentiment about making a studio that will work, and realistically happen, ...

Re: ADVICE: send in my re20 or fix myself?

I just noticed on the back of the return form they actually did specify the repairs. "Refurbished Microphone with new element, transition, wiring and foam. Microphone passed complete factory testing after repair. Test printout is attached" From the list of parts, it looks like I've basically got a b...

Re: New Barn Studio build out

Just to agree with what's been said, your main concern is how much weight your existing structure can handle. I would be very surprised if that floor could handle much extra weight across the spans without serious reinforcement. I converted my garage over the past number of years (finished just a fe...

Re: ADVICE: send in my re20 or fix myself?

So what does an RE-20 refurb run? I've got an ancient one that could also probably use it. (Anyone know what Sennheiser charges for refurb work? Also also got a 441 that could use it, too). It's like $250 flat fee, regardless of the issue as far as I can tell. They ended up charging me tax too whic...

Re: Beyer m160: is "matched pair" a thing?

I guess I meant to say that there are other situations where I'd want an actual stereo pair besides GJ, though I'm having trouble imagining what they are right this minute. I've got an AEA r88 for great sounding X/Y, and I just don't know what I'd realistically be recording with any kind of spaced p...

Beyer m160: is "matched pair" a thing?

I could have thrown this on the Audiosavings thread but it's different enough to hopefully warrant it's own... Anybody know if there's any "matching" to be done on pairs of Beyer m160's? Especially looking for the experience from folks who have or have worked with multiple of these mics. My original...

Re: ADVICE: send in my re20 or fix myself?

UPDATE: I sent my re20 to EV (aka Bosch) and got it back from them just around 2 weeks later. No indication of what they fixed but it sounds fantastic now! Thanks again for the push in the right direction.

Re: Anybody bought anything from "Audiosavings"?

UPDATE: I called audiosavings today, and after being on hold for like 10 minutes got through to someone. They claim they are an authorized Beyerdynamic retailer on their site, but beyerdynamic doesn't list them on their dealer list. I asked the guy I talked to if they were in fact authorized and he ...
