Soldering
OK, so I'm about to dive headlong into a few weeks of evening patchbay wiring. Luckily, the only soldering I'll be doing is connectors and not on the bays themselves, since I've got punchdown bays. So, I'll be wiring up 1/4" and XLR connectors. I have some old $5 soldering iron with a crapped up tip...

Re: The young hipsters are killing me....
Yeah, I've been wearing the same clothes to clubs for 20 years. Well not the same EXACT ones, since I've uhhh put on a few pounds.... No got-damn track shoes or ironic T-shirts! The hipster-kid fashion thing is not nearly as silly in Atlanta as it is in NYC, thank god, but there's still enough to be...

Re: M-Audio Duo USB
I just got a Duo to use as a standalone AD converter with my Roland VS-1880 to test the theory that adding an outboard ADC would be the best thing I could do for my recordings. Plus it'll give me another couple of mic pres and a way to do computer recording sometime if I feel like fooling with that ...

Re: turntable/preamp for sampling
Thanks for the tips.
I got a used Rotel RP1000 with a new belt and new stylus for $50. Any specific preamp tips? Especially what to avoid?

turntable/preamp for sampling
I want to get a turntable (and I guess a phono preamp?) for my home studio to be plugged into my Korg Triton for sampling vinyl stuff. Any ideas? Not looking for anything audiophile quality - just what I need to do some decent sampling. Stuff I can find on eBay would be cool. Thanks for any suggesti...

Re: Tape Op, where are you?
Whatchyou know about grits and cornbread, Son down here you get breakfast, lunch and dinner with a side of grits, hell sometimes it's the maincourse with a side of grits. And no, you don't put sugar in them (not meant for you Mark, just the other folks who may be clueless about grits and their prop...

Re: WELCOME!
Thank you thank you thank you.
If you feel like making a theme with an even bigger font size, I wouldn't complain - my eyes are pretty much f ked by Friday afternoon from staring at a computer all week.
But this new option is great - thanks.

Re: WELCOME!
OK, yeah it's FAST. But the type is so small my old eyes are buggin' And the "Text Size" commands on the Explorer View menu don't change anything (I guess because the font sizes are hard coded?). Is there a way to give us bleary bug-eyed folks a break - like an option for font size when viewing the...

Re: Going to Nashville........Tennesse that is...
Definitely go to Gruhn's Guitars. The nicest music store in the world, even when you don't have money. They were so nice to me when I crawled in ten years ago looking for a cheap used lap steel (and they sold me one super cheap) that I vowed to come back when I had real money to spend. I bought a ni...
