http://www.diyrecordingequipment.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Topview1.jpg The LINE2AMP reamping box has been the most popular kit on DIY Recording Equipment since it's introduction in 2011. The kit has been continually refined since then to improve the quality and ease of construction. I've hear...

Wow, Jesse, thanks for posting this. I just want to reiterate that, even tough we both live in West Philadelphia, jgimbel and I have no previous relationship! I also want to acknowledge the truly smart people like Scott Dorsey, NYD, and the Jensen folks who shared their reamp designs. The LINE2AMP i...

Boom goes the dynamite. Thanks!

I wonder why:
1) The pots are linear?
2) The pots and resistors are rated for 2 Watts? Perhaps in case some well-meaning dufus tries to drive speakers with this?

Sorry for reviving this ancient thread, but I've been considering a DIY solution like this for a long time and wondering what value pots I should be looking for to put between the power amp and the headphones?

Thanks

Not sure what a 1:1 transformer will achieve on a mic output, but hey why not?

The CMOY is barely a "design." Just run the inputs to a dual opamp and the outputs to a pair of headphones. Since you've got a bipolar supply handy you can even skip the virtual ground part of the circuit. With +4dB inputs you'll probably want a bigger value resistor in the feedback path for less ga...

When going from unbalanced to balanced, you want to connect hot and ground from the TS jack to 2 and 3 of the XLR. Connect XLR pin 1 to the shield on the XLR end, but leave it unconnected at the unbalanced end.

Hey Tom, long time no chat!

Seems like there's any number of high-quality differential opamps that would be happy with a line-output source impedance without the need for input transformers. Have you considered making the inputs passive? Or are you looking to have pan control as well.

A reamp box is even easier if you leave out the volume and impedance controls, both of which I find to be unnecessary. Then you're basically left with this:

Kate Bush "50 Names for Snow"

I just listened to this breathtaking album--absolutely worth checking out for anyone interested in sound. So probably won't find too many fans here ;) On a side note, this is the album that convinced me once and for all that Steve Gadd is my favorite drummer (at least until I listen to "Nefertiti" a...
