Ha. Thanks I think? Yeah, I spent a bunch of time going over the idea of the splash screen with the designer, but he liked it and in the end I grew to as well. I don't really care how many people hit the first page compared to the next. Anybody who's looking for us will get past it, and if they're ...

Re: Taming a terrible room with a small Mackie mixer?

For the near term, I've got a very sub-optimal monitoring situation, where my speakers are too close to the walls and corners in a small room and there's some sort of weird reflecting going on, causing the bass to sound really, really weird. Treating the room isn't really an option, unfortunately -...

For recording - I say nay!
For live sound - sometimes as suggested above. Even then I still like more absorption than just a plexi shield.

I've also seen some bands use small(1'x2') shields on stands or attached to the drum rack to keep cymbal wash out of vocal mics.

4K is also a problem area live. The feedback issues always seem to start and end there. Beta 58 Chris - was that suggestion the cure or the cause? :D I know that the b58 has 4-5db peaks at about 4.5k and 9.5k I do like the rejection of the b58 especially if the monitors are placed correctly in the ...

i have future sonics custom in ear monitors, i use them just for plugs as well during rehearsals, and i need to get some cheap foam ones for concerts. Would FS still have your molds? The plugs from them aren't terribly expensive and should be far superior to foam ones. If you don't do that, I'd get...

Since I was old enough to go to shows, I've been wearing the same gun muffs I use to mow the lawn. They definitely cut the level enough to be safe, but they block way more highs than lows, so everything sounds muddy - definitely not for pro work. They don't hold a candle to the custom fit guys. Fun...

I've got the custom molded ones, with three different attenuators (-9, -15 & -25). Highly recommended. I'm much more likely to use them than the foam ones, since they have a fairly flat response. I have a pair of the ETYs but have thought about getting custom molds since the -15 filters seem to hav...

4K is also a problem area live. The feedback issues always seem to start and end there. Maybe we should eliminate 4K, and rip off all the knobs? GJ Agreed - especially in live situations. 2.5-4k is usually an area that isn't very smooth on lower end PAs and/or poorly setup systems. Alot of times du...

I stepped back from FOH duties for a band a little over a year ago and convinced them to move from their MixWiz to the 16.4.2 partially due to the fact that I was taking my outboard gear with me(comps, rev, delays, etc) and it would give them a nice compact setup with a lot of features since they we...

Ver' cool! On the guitars, I especially like the direct comparison of the 609 and 57 (the 609 seems notably brighter), and between the three ribbons, none of which I have but all of which I liked. I'm shocked  that I actually liked the 57 here! It was a good bit louder than the 609 and loude...
