Received new 6 core,32 gig ram, TB display, 3TB hard drive yesterday. Ordered 4 custom made DB25 cables, patch bay, 252gig SSD to connect with brand new Apollo 16w/TBcard. Turns out UAD has yet to write firmware allowing the Apollo 16 to work with the new Mac Pro through Thunderbolt. I'm thinking ev...

Memphis recording history

Everyone knows of the great sessions at Sun Records, (Memphis Recording Services), but the history of Staxx Records down the street is very interesting as well. I was in a band called Phyrework that signned a deal with Mercury Records in 1978. Judd Phillips, (Sam's nephew), was A&R for Mercury in Me...

I would listen to recordings you wish your mixes to sound like and model your sound after those recordings. This is not as difficult as it may seem. Best of luck.

Compression was usually LA2A, 1176. All of this to a 16 or 24 track tape deck. Ardent in Memphis, Ctiteria...

Ok, I have the Apogee. I've had the Ensemble several years.I recorded hundreds of tracks on it, several CD's and just finished a film score It's been awesome. It replaced a MOTU 1296. I rarely use the mic pre's, but am happy with them when I do.

+1 on the great read. Bob is an old school staff producer. His perspective is priceless. I found myself reading large sections of this interview to my wife, mostly, I think, because I wanted to hear it read out loud. It was riveting. Thank you for the great work.

+1 on the drum ambiance. I have a killer DW kit in a room w/sheet rock walls.
Love the pro rooms. All it takes is a budget.

As a musician/recordist who had grown weary of running back to the control room from my piano/organ room after a bad take, I searched for a product like the Tranzport for years. It has been a great tool. I can't believe it has been discontinued. It does everything I need it to do and it works every ...
