I've pretty much always been in this situation. Back when I recorded in my old house I started running black & white security cams to each room so I could see them and they could see me. It definitely helped with the visual communications. When I moved to the place I'm at now I didn't really have th...

I'm upstairs from a mexican resturant/music venue. I'm actually across the hall from the green room for the bands playing downstairs. I usually don't have any bleed issues because I just try to avoid tracking quite acoustic projects while there's a metal band pounding downstairs. Plus I do most of ...

I put in a newer G5 in place of my older G4 just the other day. Loading all the same programs, plugins and got everything working just as the old one did. I'm just gonna keep the G4 around just incase something goes down with the G5. All I have to do is disconnect some cables, switch out some PCI ca...

WTB-Biamp Legend Console

Hey guys, I've been on the look out for a Biamp Legend Console or any parts (power supply, channels, etc...) that someone may have laying around. I mainly looking for the 20x16 board they had, but any configuration would be interesting. Thanks!

The HD24 isn't a tape based system.

Is 24 tracks enough for initial tracking? If so, rent an Alesis HD24 to track the basics and just transfer them into Pro Tools for overdubs and mixing. Just an idea!

Jon! Yeah! That's my place! That's too damn funny. I've been there just over two years now and I love it. Yep, Atomic Guitars is no more, but Johnny still wheels and deal around these parts. Vino's pizza is still good too. Let me know next time you come through! Anyway, I won't railroad the topic. N...

I'm renting out a space upstairs from a cool club/bar. It's actually across from the dressing room for the touring bands that come through so I get alot of pop in's. They don't care when and what I do up there because they're used to noisy bands. It also doesn't matter if I'm working up there while ...

Magma PCIx to PCIe question...

Ok, I have an older Magma expansion chassis. A PCI-7-RX. I've been using it with my G4 1.25 and haven't had any problems with it thus far. What I was wondering was, Magma's site shows you can buy an expansion chassis setup that lets your run your PCI & PCIx cards in the expansion chassis, and hook i...

I'm assuming you can't do this with prosumer decks like a Tascam MSR16, can you? I monitor through the deck all the time when tracking, and I've never noticed any latancy or tape compression from the audio passing through it while rolling. Only after playback does it seem to have the tape comp I'm l...

Peluso vs. Royer... Opinions?

So I'm in the market for a new ribbon mic, and after reading the review of the Peluso R14 in Tape Op I starting thinking seriously about picking one up. The only thing I'm questioning is how it might work in the applications I'd be using in, especially with electric guitar. In the review, they used ...
